Technology

The Therap applications is housed and maintained on servers owned and operated by Therap. Therap Services is committed to service availability and data security and uses a highly redundant set of hardware and software. The system has been designed such that the services can be accessed via the internet from anywhere, anytime. Our goal is to further ensure that data is never lost once it is on our servers.

Data Storage

Therap uses Sun Microsystems and EMC for its servers and data storage. We put all records and data into an Oracle database, which runs on multiple servers, located in different geographical locations. The redundant servers function to ensure that no single failure can interrupt service or affect the data. The system is also continuously monitored by Therap’s Operations Security personnel for intrusion or unusual events and to prevent fraud events like hacking.

Data Security

The Internet allows open access to online information that includes an individual’s personal information (which falls under PHI-Protected Health Information). Thus it is essential to provide a series of firewalls and other hardware and software protection. Therap uses Cisco Systems equipment for these types of functions.

Data Processing

Providing these types of services requires substantial amount of computer processing power to perform a variety of different functions. Therap uses Sun Microsystems equipment for all of this processing.

System Reliability

To achieve high levels of reliability, the Therap architecture relies on several proven techniques:

  • High-end, industrial-strength equipment and infrastructure software
  • Redundancy of devices and system components in proportion to their likelihood of failure
  • Overall node replication and synchronization
  • Redundant, managed, parallel communications access
  • Frequent backups with offsite storage
