Oregon’s ISP: Coming to Therap!
Justin met with Oregon users today and reviewed the plans for adding their ISP to Therap. This will become Therap’s default ISP document and it really is very cool.
Watch for more on this as the release grows closer and I hit the road around Oregon in June and July!

Get Your Nerd On!

Hello Therap Nerds,
You have a new toy to play with for the holidays. Early, I know, but fun nonetheless. The Beta is the working release of the impending new version due out in mid January 2012. You can use the login portal to use your own Therap system to play, as it is not real and is only a snapshot to allow testing.
You will login using the link below as normal but you will be in the Beta system (so you will need to enable new roles and such). Also, let me know if there is anything else you have wanted to experiment with and I can enable it for your agency’s Therap system at no cost, as it is not in the “real” or production database. This includes the MAR, for example, and new features such as Individual Care Plans.
Login here: https://beta.therapservices.net/g/login
Review release notes here: http://support.therapservices.net/display/support/Release+Notes+for+Therap+2012.0
And please let me know if you need help. We are looking for suggestions, questions and feedback from all of you super smarty pants out there SO DROP US A LINE with anything notable–good, bad or indifferent.
PS: Check out the new live help system in 2012.0…it is shiny and right out of the box. We will be staffing it as much as we can for testing purposes as well!
***********Happy Holidays!

Do you want to be cool like us?

Therap is hiring for support staff all over the place.
Check out what Richard has to say:
Therap is continuing its strong growth and is again looking to add to the support team in the US.
We have had lots of conversations on how best to communicate this position.
On one hand I think what we are doing is tremendously exciting. Helping the developmental disability industry transform itself using software and technology to provide better support and transparency with budgetary savings is really helping to make a difference in people’s lives.
Learning about everything from electronic health records to new mobile apps to different ways that agencies are going truly paperless are useful career skills and knowledge. The issues and technologies that Therap is dealing with from a support perspective are quite challenging and often fun. We need to thinking about and then implement improvement in training for individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, caseworkers, staff and more using tools like mobile phones, social media, podcasts, webinars as well as conferences and in-person training.
On the other hand, the initial support positions require 90% or more travel at times. Which may seem like a lot of travel unless you enjoy travel and seeing the US. In that case – all of that travel and getting to see the country is actually a positive.
I remember when I was earlier in my career I had several jobs with significant travel. I had one job where I spent one weeknight at home over a 4 month period. I enjoyed it – although I did consider renting my apartment as I was so rarely using it. And while I remember whats its like to travel so much for work, its actually much easier to stay in touch now with facebook, cellphones, skype, and other tools. In fact when I traveled to Thailand on business in 1983, there was one channel in the hotel room and it was really isolating.Which I guess for me is partly the point. If someone wants to do significant travel at whatever stage of life and career they are at right now, Therap provides a great opportunity. The work and product are meaningful. The experience of dealing with electronic documentation and health records is part of the future and is a useful skill. The other team members and Therap customers are generally interesting and nice people you get to meet around the country.
We are particularly looking for house manager levels who perhaps are not looking for a traditional career path in provider management.
If anyone knows of someone who might be interested in a position, you can get more information or apply here.
Um, so why are you still sitting there?
Allison
PS: I don’t always agree with what Richard thinks is exciting…but he got this one right, for sure!
The Deal with Due Medications

Okay, I know, I know…it was there and now it’s not. But I promise it will be back very soon.
And here is what you also need to know: to take advantage of this new feature, you need to do some updating to your medication histories.
There is a whole new box dedicated to scheduling medications and treatments, and by populating the drop downs accordingly, the MAR will reflect the scheduled frequency with its new green boxes.
The green boxes can be edited by the MAR configurer (that is a word now) manually as well. The green boxes do two things: warn your staff if something is not scheduled if they click on a plain old non-green box when administering, and they also tell the system something is due, letting you see if medications have not been documented across your entire caseload. (Once it’s back, that is.)
Medication histories as they are will not work as the scheduling feature is what informs the Due Medications list…so get in there and update.
If you have already updated, no worries, that data will migrate to the next update.

A pug, a lion and some fine OREGONIANS

So, why is Archie sleeping? Well, he went on an ADVENTURE!…On Tuesday night, he went on vacation to The Red Lion hotel in Salem.
The next day, he met his adoring public in the form of the Oregon Users Group. Archie has been invited to just about every agency on the planet so this was a chance to meet all of his public at once…and he got loved and loved. So loved, he is still sleeping.
In Oregon, Therap’s a-rockin’…there were over forty people present for the majority of the day. The morning included an overview of some newer Therap features that some users may have missed: Individual Home, Medical Diagnoses, some aspects of Provider Administration. Then we had a look at the upcoming Time Tracking feature ( a sneak peek!) and finished it off with an hour-long session on ISP Data Collection. Phew.
Thanks to Annie and Natasha for the Starbucks run(s)…Needed it seriously!
In the afternoon, there was a discussion about how their systems would interface with the State of Oregon’s system for licensing staff. The discussion was productive, with a bunch of good questions and ideas about how to move ahead in concert with private providers, the counties and the state. They are a pretty progressive bunch, these guys, and I’m lucky to know them all!
Archie says hello (yawn!) and I’ll see you all soon (especially Cindy for our pug play date…)!
