Running the last login report gives you the recent logins, however, it does not reveal those who have not logged in. This is the way to run an exception report.
- Run the Last Login Report under AGENCY REPORTS and export it to Excel.
- Under the ADMIN tab, click LIST next to USER, and export the User List to Excel as well.
Now you have two Excel spreadsheets.
- In the USER LIST spreadsheet, delete columns B through F. Column A should remain as is with the login name.
- In the LAST LOGIN REPORT spreadsheet, delete column D (Title). Copy columns C and D and paste them into the USER LIST spreadsheet into columns D and E.
Now you have the one spreadsheet you will use. What the formula will do is compare the entire user list to the list of logins and find those who have failed to login during the time period you chose when you ran the LAST LOGIN REPORT.
The formula is constructed this way: =VLOOKUP(lookup_value, table_array, col_index_num, [range_lookup])
Lookup Value=what are you looking for=login name
Table Array=where are you looking for the login name to compare to the user list
Column Index=which column in the table array matters=login name
Range Lookup=find out who didn’t login and tell me=find the names in the big list that don’t appear in the login list
So, do this:
- Click cell B2 and then in the formula bar, type: =VLOOKUP(
- Click cell A2 and then the formula will look like: =VLOOKUP(A2
- Type a comma after “A2” and then highlight cells D2 through the end of the list in E## and the formula will look something like this: =VLOOKUP(A2, D2:E## (the number symbols reflect the last row in the E column)
- Type a comma after the E## and the following so it looks like this: =VLOOKUP(A2, D2:E##,1,FALSE)
- Click Enter and in cell B2 you will either see #N/A or the login name listed. Keep B2 highlighted and drag the lower right corner down through the column to copy the formula all the way down the column so it checks each login name against the login report.
The #N/A means that the user has not logged in during the time period selected. If the login name appears, that user has logged in during the given report period.
Clever, no? Thanks, Eddie!
There is a Utah User Group coming up on July 22 at 10AM.
We will be at RISE Services: 6150 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT.
Drop me a note if you’re coming by!!
And, as with Washington, it is *never* too late to hang with the cool kids!
In this session, Eddie reviews some
handy freakin’ awesome Excel tools to work with exports from Therap.
This is not the live session presented originally. A GoToWebinar error corrupted the recording MUCH to my dismay.
Eddie re-recorded this for us because HE IS THE MOST AWESOME IN THE WORLD. (And he loves me!…That, too!) ;)
Watch it HERE!
Welcome, Eddie Fung, to our growing list of certified Therap nerds. Here is some information about my friend, Eddie:
Since TURN Community Services began using Therap in October 2010, Eddie has been actively involved in learning the system, testing new modules, communicating with Therap’s technical support team, and serving as a resource for other TURN staff. In July 2012, he became the Director of Therap and Quality Assurance for the agency, though some of his co-workers informally call him “T-Lord.”
A TURN employee since 2000, Eddie was a Program Coordinator until 2006, and then served as Director of Program Services up until July 2012. Eddie went to TURN after a career in the oil industry. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering and worked for Exxon Mobil Corporation at oil refineries in New Jersey, Alberta, and Montana. He says that it wasn’t the right fit for him. “As a 21-year old college graduate in the oil industry, I was making more money than I am making today! But I’m happier and loving my job, and I love working at TURN!”
Eddie currently lives in Salt Lake City with his husband, William, and 2 hybrid cars. He was born in Hong Kong and lived in Ecuador for a couple of years. In the US, he grew up mostly on Long Island, New York and moved to New Jersey to work for Exxon. He is an admitted tennis addict and plays 4-5 times per week. Traveling is another passionate hobby and he has plans to visit Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, and Switzerland this year.
(Maybe he can find some agencies in Switzerland for me to go train! –Allison)

(“What is a user group?” you ask. A user group is a group of Therap users in the same state who meet to troubleshoot, network, discuss statewide issues, and get the lowdown on any new Therap releases. They also can contain training on any portion of Therap’s system.)

3/24/2014 at 11AM MDT ONLINE
This meeting will be conducted online using GoToMeeting. All current Utah users will receive the login information prior to each meeting.
Please be in touch with Allison Dudo if you need any information. This is the first of several more meetings to be held in 2014, both online and onsite in Salt Lake City.
Keep an eye out for more groups in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada..I’m still scheduling!
I spent the first half of the week in Utah with Therap users in Salt Lake City and St. George with Danvill-ains, TURN-ites, and created all sorts of madness and mayhem. The meeting in Salt Lake City ran over three hours and I got to see User Groups in action as the providers shared their ideas, workarounds, and discussed the access they are granting their support coordinators. It really was a helpful and productive meeting. St. George was more intimate but, as with the first, was beneficial for all involved.
I’m still getting over a WICKED (take note, Maine-iacs) cold. Hopefully, being back home and getting caught up will finally knock it out…
Next week: Bend, Oregon.
There will be two Utah user groups held in April. They will be onsite in Salt Lake City and St. George, UT. There is no cost associated with these groups. All current users in Utah will receive an emailed invitation. If you are interested in more information, please contact me.
