It was a very cold day outside…but a very warm and wonderful day inside the walls of Starkey in Wichita, KS. I spent the morning working with the Health Services team and the afternoon with a very large group of case managers.
We got tons of work done and paved the way for Starkey to begin using more of the Therap system the beginning of the year. Congratulations to everyone at Starkey for your motivation to move closer to a paperless organization!
A very special Therapite thank you to Becky Sherwood and Colin McKinney for always making me feel so welcome at the agency. Your staff are some of the most wonderful people to work with. :)
Where is this lil’ Therapite off to next? Well folks, I am headed to Kansas on Sunday to work with a few of our current providers and meet with the State hospital IT leadership as we add more of Therap’s awesome applications to their staff toolboxes.
Along with me for all of the fun and excitement will be Kitti Gutierrez, the newest Therapite to our Business Development team. She will be completing her training and shadowing me on this adventure through the beautiful…blustery Flinthills…of my home state! Check in with me next week for the play-by-play of agencies and events. Giddy Up! :)
To all of our customers, our Therap family wishes you a very safe and wonderful Thanksgiving!
- Some call it the annual InterHab Conference, I call it Alumni Week! This is my old stomping ground folks! There are so many people that I spend those three days catching up with that I hardly remember its a conference. In fact, it was AMAZING to see how many Therap users attended the event. I barely had to talk to anyone about using the system because I had local celebrities like Colin McKinney, Brenda Maxey, Alice Lackey, Ed Henry, John Platt and so many others spreading the Therap message. A BIG HUGE Thank you to all of my Kansas friends that made me feel welcome at InterHab. I can’t wait to see you again!
- InterHab had a great turnout for the annual conference. This was just 1/2 the room.
One of my favorite parts of this job is helping agencies improve their processes by using Therap. It reinforces how significant a role our system plays inside developmental disability businesses across the country. We are truly a partner in their success and that makes this Therapite feel very proud!
I had the very wonderful pleasure of working with Becky Sherwood, Colin McKinney, Robert, Julie, Glenda, and several other team members to review the Therap ISP and how it works when tracking behaviors for the state BASIS reports. We also took a look at some of the CCHIT functionality, discussed adoption of the new Therap Individual Support Plan, and reviewed the latest HIPAA rules. It was a terrific afternoon spent with some extra special Therapites.
A big thank you to Becky, for arranging the meeting and organizing the teams that met with me (as well as the cinnamon popcorn and spiced almonds that you made….which were especially yummy!) You are the best!!! ;)
When you are seeking me this week you will find me in four different states. That’s the truth folks. I begin my week tomorrow in Gillette, WY. where I will be greeted by Kitti Gutierrez, one of our amazing certified trainers from RENEW. She and I will be spending the afternoon discussing Therap’s newest applications AND doing a tiny bit of site-seeing. Monday I am providing consultation to one of the first South Dakota agencies ever to use Therap. Northern Hills Training Center will be working with me to adopt their Individual Support Plan into Therap along with all of the new CCHIT (Commission on the Certification of Health Information Technology) tools.
On Tuesday I am back in Wyoming and meeting with a brand new agency that will be adopting our system. Wednesday I am in my Texas office tying up loose ends before driving up to Dallas and then over to Tulsa, Oklahoma for an implementation meeting with our newest agency, BIOS! By the weekend I will be in Kansas where I intend to spend a few days with my boys.
Whew!!!!! Look for some great pictures from all my adventures this week!
When it comes to choosing colleges, sticking close to home has not been high on my boys priority list. Andrew went to Missouri and Elliot opted for Colorado State. Hunter, however, did decide to stay close to his Kansas roots. After going to school last year in Salina and playing football, he has made a switch and is now attending Pittsburg State. So much for the purple Coyote-wear that I have hanging in my closet…now it will be Gorilla-wear and the color red. Why can’t one of them attend a school where the colors are ORANGE and BLUE?
Maybe there’s hope… I still have a couple years until Connor heads to college. Until then, I will proudly wear my PSU Gorilla’s hoodie and drink from my new coffee mug that Hunt sent over last week. Thank you Hunt! Go Gorillas!!!
That’s right folks, the Annual Texas Regional Conference is less than a month away. Have you registered? Are you planning to come hang out with Brent, Allison, Jim and me? We would LOVE to have you join us to learn more about the Therap system and hear about all of the new things that you accomplish in many of the applications.

When it comes to Kansas, I am a bit biased. It”s hard not to be when its your home state. So you have to understand that having another CDDO (Community Developmental Disability Organization) make Therap their new documentation system…well, it just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
Therap is thrilled to announce the addition of Tri-Ko to the our family of quality providers. Tri-Ko is located in Osawatomie, KS. Proudly serving Anderson, Linn, and Miami Kansas counties. Tri-Ko assists persons with developmental disabilities to achieve meaningful levels of independence, inclusion and productivity.
WELCOME John, Chris, and all of the Tri-Ko family to Therap. We are excited to begin working with you!
Kansas was my focus this past week, specifically, current users and our KNI (Kansas Neurological Institute) project. Both meetings were especially beneficial and there is just not enough kind words to say about the Sunflower State and its OUT OF THIS WORLD group of providers.
A HUMONGOUS thank you goes out to Becky Sherwood for her excellent hosting skills. Not only did our providers have a few treats to munch on during the User Group Meeting BUT Becky made special ORANGE boxes of Kisses and adorable packages of mints with the Therap logo printed on each one. WOW!!!!
Thanks to the many participants that attended the meeting. Therap would not be the #1 electronic documentation system in the State of Kansas if it were not for all of YOU!
- Vonda (Arc of Sedgwick County), Kathy and Jan (OCCK) brought lots to share!
- My buddy, and an AWESOME Therap Provider Administrator, Sheila Goesha!
