Popularity! Thanks TKJ We Love You TOO!

I love it when we get mentioned in a newsletter. Today I got a notice from Jim Jensen about Therap in their most recent electronic newsletter. I’m tickled that our users enjoy the Therap system so much. Just makes me all giddy inside! ;)

News and Notes - April 26, 2012

You are receiving this email because you have expressed an interest in TKJ or are currently connected with TKJ as participant, family member, staff, stakeholder or are just interested in the services we provide.

Over the past several years TKJ has been looking at tools which can increase our ability to provide quality services using cost effective methods and systems to further support the people in our services.  In December of 2010 we started using a cloud based data collection system called Therap.  Our staff are using computers in homes on a daily basis to document many areas of people’s lives.  We have found this has been very successful.

Our management team has been discussing better ways to communicate with people who have a vested interest in TKJ and the services we provide.  In the past we have done this with mailed newsletters, surveys and individual communication.  This has become increasingly more difficult for a variety of reasons.  We have found some internet based tools which allow us to quickly get information out using email.  We are hoping to have more consistent information provided to you regarding general issues which may affect people with disabilities, your family members, or TKJ.

This will be the first in a series of regular editions of the “TKJ News and Notes”.  We are planning on communicating information regarding issues and news which affects the people we support, their families and people with disabilities in general.  We will also be posting general information related to people’s benefits, changes in services, health insurance, housing and health care.  Most of all we hope to keep you all informed with those issues which impact TKJ and the people we support.

Thank you in advance for taking the time and interest in TKJ and we hope you will find this information helpful.

Sincerely,

James Que Jensen, LCSW
TKJ Executive Director

Have You Seen Our Nursing Assessment?

You may not know this but recently Therap introduced the Comprehensive Health Assessment tool. eCHAT, as its called,  is designed to keep an in-depth assessment record of an individual’s health symptoms and history. It also calculates the overall acuity level and publishes a summary with recommendations for cases that may require care plans.

The intuitive eCHAT module automatically pulls in a portion of the information from other Therap modules such as ‘Individual Data Forms’ and ‘Health Tracking’. Like all other Therap modules, the system allows for easy submission, editing, review and reporting.

Comprehensive health information and history contained in eCHAT forms include:

  • Comprehensive Health Assessment Tool (eCHAT)
  • Diagnoses and conditions
  • Active medications
  • Allergies
  • Lab and radiology reports
  • Utilization of medical services
  • Vital signs

  • Aspiration Risk

Welcome Work Activity Center

Located just outside of Salt Lake City, the Work Activity Center (WAC) is the oldest Community Service Provider in the State of Utah.

Under the leadership of Kate McConaughy, the Work Activity Center delivers day, residential, employment, and health services to enrich the lives of people with disabilities by actively providing opportunities for independence and individual growth.

With a rich history going back over 50 years, The Center was founded in 1958 by a group of parents whose children had disabilities. The group was able to rent a barracks building at Fort Douglas for $1.00 per year, and the building was made habitable with help from Fort Douglas personnel, service clubs, and friends. When public education for all children was mandated in 1975 by Public Law 94-142 (now known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act or IDEA) our focus changed to assisting adults with disabilities. Throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s, services grew to support a wider variety of the needs of adults with disabilities. Employment programs were begun so that individuals could go into the community and earn a paycheck. Residential services were started to address the needs of individuals that were no longer able to live at home but needed support to live on their own. In 1985 the Center began to raise funds in order to build its’ own permanent facilities. With the help of Salt Lake County, West Valley City, and South Salt Lake, that vision became a reality on June 30th, 1988. Additional day locations were opened in the 1990’s so that individuals with very significant disabilities could have community and sensory experiences. Today the Center is one of Utah’s most vibrant work and training alternatives, providing an invaluable resource for over 250 participants and their families.

To Kate, Lynley, and Debbie – Therap is both pleased and excited to be working with the WAC family. Allison and I will see you in January to get the ball rolling!

We welcome you aboard our amazing group of quality providers! Whoo-hoo!!!!

Therap is proud to welcome Columbus Community Center to our growing list of Utah organizations that have chosen to go paperless.

It is the mission of CCC to supports the growth, development, and independence of persons with disabilities through education, rehabilitation programs, and work opportunities.

Welcome Danville Services!

Therap is excited to welcome Danville Services in Utah and Nevada to our Therap family of quality providers.

Danville Services Corporation has been providing high quality service and supports to people with disabilities since 1986.  What started as a management company supporting non-profits in developing their buildings and procedures soon evolved into a full service company.  Since its inception, the philosophy of Danville has been to provide the best service in the best environments.  They began as two side-by-side group homes in Riverton, Utah and soon grew to include other living arrangements such as supervised apartments, supported living arrangements, supported employment and day training services.  Within a few years the Danville name was stamped throughout Northern Utah in such places as Provo, Orem and Bountiful.

As their expertise grew, so did their area of service.  In 1992 they crossed the border into Nevada and began providing service in a group home setting.  Now, over a decade later Danville Services of Nevada, L.L.C. is among the largest provider in the Las Vegas area and their staff are among the most committed in any industry.

Welcome Bill, Marsha, Brooks, Mark, Rod, Carol and all of the Danville team. We are going to have so much fun helping you become expert Therapites!

Ciao ;)
