A Final Stop

May 8th, 2008

On my way home this morning, I made a few stops to snap some pictures. I got a few nice ones of Lake Ontario under the dark clouds and then headed over to Niagara Falls…They kept me from going over in a barrel, however. :D

Long ride home…and the border folks actually let me back into the country. (They had their chance to be rid of me!!)

Silly!!

See you soon.

Back to America

May 7th, 2008

Today, we did a whole day of sessions. The Rescare staff were attentive and polite, asking lots of good questions. Krista hung out a bit too and answered agency and policy-specific stuff. All in all, a successful mission.

Now for the real question: will the border police let me back in??????????

1812…

May 7th, 2008

I’m told by Canadians that Canada won that war no matter what Americans say. And Canada had just a wood fort. Considering that I came in peace with laptops as an offering, I wasn’t going to argue as we drank a glass of wine and discussed Canadian history. This is wine country, by the way. Who’d have thought there would be about 40 wineries in this little tiny place? Good choice, Justin. ;)

Before my history lesson, I drove eight hours (across endless farms in NY State) and crossed the border into Canada at Niagara Falls with no difficulty. I made my way to the very scenic Niagara-on-the Lake and driving towards the town center, I went through an endless park right along Lake Ontario.

I found Rescare Premier which looks like a tiny little house (camouflage, I found out) until one drives into the driveway and looks around back. There are several buildings and a parking lot which are scarcely noticeable from the road.

I met Krista and other Rescare folks before setting up laptops and making sure that they all were ready to go for the morning. Afterwards, I checked into the Canterbury Inn which is a sweet little place right off one of the main streets. Julie is the innkeeper who was busy in the garden when I arrived.

And then off to dinner at The Golf Club, a restaurant on one of the several golf courses–they all seem to have “queen” in their names.

It was there that I discussed stone versus wooden forts. These folks, I found out, are the only Canadian Rescare so they are a bit lonely…Apparently, they received a phone call the other day and were asked, “Are you really in Canada?”…Yes, they are. There is electricity even. :D

Off to train. See you later.

O, Canada

May 4th, 2008

At 4AM on Tuesday morning, I will be starting off on a seven plus hour drive to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, with laptops and things tossed in the back of the van. I have all my papers in order to cross the border–as I was instructed by Krista. She told me not to be funny or wear sunglasses and know where I’m going. Two out of three should be all right.

I’m going to train our first Canadian agency that specializes in working with folks with acquired brain injury. This will be their first hands-on sessions and I plan on power-training all the staff in Tlogs, GERs, and Secure Communication in one day. So, one day up, one day mad training, and another day back…didn’t I just leave Delaware??

Stephen is on his way to Minneapolis today with the Summer Tour van, Maureen will be going as well very soon. Justin is all over the place. I have no idea what Kara is doing. Or Anna…except that they should all show up in South Dakota in about a week. That works. ;)

And on we go…

May 2nd, 2008

Delaware was hugely successful with much thanks to our “volunteers”: Bonnie, Renee, Karen and Jesica, Terri and Heather. And now we move onto South Dakota. Therap’s Sioux Falls conference promises to be very exciting with new agencies along with “old-timers” such as NHTC being around to show new and potential users the Therap ropes. The van begins its trip by way of Minneapolis with Stephen on Sunday (and Maureen a bit after!) . They’ll be at ARRM and visiting with Laura Baker Services while they’re out there.

I won’t be in Sioux Falls as I’ll be minding the office and getting ready for my three weeks in Oregon and Washington. If you are interested in coming to either South Dakota or Oregon, let us know and we’ll see about fitting you in.

Delaware Weather Report

April 30th, 2008

Yesterday was more of the same…lots of sessions, lots of DE folks, and a newly infused energy for some providers down here who did not know all the things that Therap had to offer as all they had used previously was the GER module. Terri got a hug over health tracking, Heather did some of the IDF presentation, and Warren came up with some clever ideas for Chris at Latham Centers…a devious white wizard for sure.

Priyanka and Sazzad did a Bangladesh presentation and gave an overview of their culture, the Therap team, and the ongoing activities in southern Asia. It was very cool…and Renee, you are “top notch” no matter what they say. ;)

So here it goes, Anna: WOO HOO!

Hmm…Super Roles and Caseloads, Provider Administration, Implementation, 7Three and BIO-keys

April 28th, 2008

Oh MY…what a day!! It started at 6AM and then from 7AM on, it’s been wild here in Delaware. I think I haven’t stopped talking and running from room to room since; super roles, caseloads, provider administration, and THEN upcoming attractions in 7.3 as well as messing with biometric logging in. Essentially, there is no reason to login with a user name and password once this is set up; it uses finger prints to log in. How COOL!!!!!!!!! :D

I had a great session around implementing Therap and had some good input from people who are new to it and planning to implement it. Bonnie was a great help as well! They were very nice, with lots of input and hopefully will offer a good critique of my implementation plan!!

Here are some pix:

My favorite Cape Cod-ite…finally!! I got a picture with paparazzi shy Chris Gallant from Latham Centers.

Lead nerd.

Anna being serious.

Jim being…Jim (probably talking about billing…snore.)

Terri doing a fine job of collecting the folders for our attendees. We think it was Heather’s fault. ;)

See you tomorrow.

Dreaming of DELAWARE!!!!!!!!!!

April 26th, 2008

Oh my, oh my!! Justin and I are in the office printing and doing some last minute packing for Kara and Stephen’ little red van. It’s more jammed than Maureen’s even!! And that doesn’t include Jim’s truck either…eek!

My van is empty as I’m going to be the chauffeur of the day: going to Bradley to grab Bonnie from LifeQuest in South Dakota, and then off to Newark to pick up Renee from TRC in Jamestown, NY, and Terri and Heather from John F. Murphy Homes in Auburn, ME…They are all coming to help us out because we are expecting about a gazillion people at the Sheraton in Dover. Well, not a gazillion but 250 is PLENTY!!!!!!!!!!

We’ll also be meeting up with Karen and Jesica from the Arc of Somerset in New Jersey!! I’m thrilled to see them all again and thankful that they agreed to come over and share their expertise with Delaware folks.

As I’ve said before, Therap is not just a system, it’s a community of awesome users!!

See you soon.

Calling All Nurses

April 24th, 2008

Listen up! You’re going to like this. ;)

When 7.3 hits your virtual doorstep sometime soon (don’t ask me for a date…I have been sworn to secrecy…at least I cannot put it in writing…shhhh!), nurses will have several things that they have really wanted:

The common request was often phrased this way, “Can I PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEE have numbers on my FirstPage to review Health Tracking?”

And the response was frequently phrased this way, “Dear Nurse, Thank you for your suggestion. We will consider this as we continue working on improving our Health Tracking Modules. Please continue to send your comments and suggestions. Love, Therap Customer Support”

Well, here it is. Newly entered Health Tracking data will produce a “review” list so you will no longer have to search or run reports, seeking anything apparently new. (Provider Administrators, make note that this is an additional privilege that you will need to add to a given super role or NO ONE WILL SEE THIS!!)…

So, cool, right? It gets better.

As of 7.3, you can attach files to both Lab Test results and Appointment sheets, as well as GERs. So this should help with the numerous requests to attach nursing assessments of injuries and such, retrieving scanned blood work results, attaching a staff person’s statement, a scanned prescription, etc.

These are just some of the groovy new things…Have fun sometime…in the future…soon. :D

Behavior 8.0

April 21st, 2008

Much has been going on in the world of Therap’s behavior tracking module. Mozammel is working on some new prototypes and requirements. The Behavior Advisory Committee got together over a web conference and took a look at Mo’s first shot and offered all kinds of thoughts and ideas…It was very cool to have folks from all over the country together talking about all this. If you’d like to get involved let me know. For now, feel free to join the Customer Support Forum to see what’s up. I posted it in there. :D

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
