Shubho Noboborsho to you all!! â¦
⦠which in English translates to âHappy New Year!â. On this day (also called Pahela Boishakh), the whole nation celebrates the coming of the New Year by wearing Sarees and Punjabis with the combination of the colors red and white. The whole country is decked in similar colors and there are many parades and fun events where people get together and have traditional meals with friends and family.

A popular tradition on this day is for people to go to Ramna Botomul early in the morning and take part in various singing events. People were not at all fazed by the heat and thousands flocked to the event this year. The Ramna Botomul is actually a huge tree in Ramna Park (a popular park in Dhaka) under which all these events take place.
