Day 1 @ DDPA

Hi everyone! So today started the AR DDPA conference, and so far, so good.. A lot of people just cleaned off my table of Therap goodies during lunch, and are now off to their sessions. I’ve also only been here two days, and have already been told that I don’t sound like a Yankee, hehe. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…
There’s also been some interesting drama at the hotel here, as they overbooked 2 conferences, and I hear, there’s been some recent firings of planners involved. Never hurts to hear the vendor gossip
Last night was a pretty rough storm, as well, but no twisters, so I slept like a baby. I’m hoping to get some time tomorrow to see some sights, and am already researching the area zoo… and of course, keeping posted on the goings on with Justin and Allison in Therapville. Never a dull moment..

Little Rock, Arkansas

After an early flight this morning, I’m here in Little Rock, AR for the AR DDPA conference that begins tomorrow. The weather here is just wonderful- in the 70′s– and everything is in bloom and very green. Guess I won’t be needing the winter coat I was wearing when I boarded in CT.
This afternoon, I spent some time with one of our clients in Hope, AR, where I visited last summer. We went over t-logs, GER’s, and S-Comms, and then I spent some time with the PA’s there.  Who knew I’d be in AR twice in one year?!
Tomorrow, it’s booth set up and exhibit time, and then on Wednesday, I’ll be presenting a session on the many benefits of going paperless.
More later,
Kara
“Hope grows politicians and watermelons”

Well, today I had some time to visit the old railroad depot visitor’s center, watched a brief Clinton video and did more of the same training w/ DSP’s. I’ve quickly discovered that this town is all about Bill Clinton and giant watermelons
, thanks to some insight from a volunteer at the visitor’s center– only wish I was around for the annual watermelon fest they have.I also got out and did some jogging and walking this evening in some open lots near Wallyworld and my hotel. It only took about 5 minutes in the high 90′s heat, to be completely drenched, but a great workout! I also managed to find a postcard to send back to my fellow therapites. So, that’s all from Arkansas.

Day 1, AR
Today was day 1 in Hope, AR, where I am doing some initial training to help start up an agency we have here. Boy, is it hot here in AR, but I’ll take it over the cold, any day. I met w/ 2 groups of staff to review what they’d be starting up with and was happy to get them going, since this was their first time seeing the Therap system in action. It’s always the best to hear and see people’s first reactions to the system, as they discover how much easier things will be.
Besides visiting a park, or Clinton’s birthplace, there doesn’t seem to be too many touristy things to do here, but I am right next to a gigantic walmart, which has been convenient. Because I got in late last night and I’m pretty close to the agency, I haven’t seen much of AR, though the people I’ve talked to have all seemed very friendly, and I’ve already gotten the “you’re not from around here, are ya?” question. It’s strange being the one with the accent around here
.
Well, tomorrow, I do more training, and then I’m off to California on Wednesday. Staying warm!
