Conference in Maryland

Yesterday I flew in to MD to attend a conference today that we were invited to by several State of MD nurses who were at the DDNA conference in New Mexico. It was a one day event- short and sweet, and the booth got some good traffic and interest. I have found that most people seem to be concerned about staff not being able to use a computer or the cost, but when you consider that technology is ever-increasing and even kids in elementary school are learning to use computers, it seems inevitable and necessary for the advancement of this field- not to mention that Therap is driven by our users (the majority, being Direct Care professionals) so anyone can use it; and as far as cost is concerned, you can imagine how much you save on binders, paper, clipboards, etc each year, and how much you earn in time, and most importantly, quality of support, and it really seems hard not to consider technology in helping the lives of people served. I find it hard to fathom, that people would want to use technology to make their own lives easier, by getting better appliances, ipods, shopping online, having the best technology in hospitals, yet are hesitant to use these advances in technology in such an important field as serving human beings who need some of the most help.
Well, back to waiting in the airport…
