MACDS Fall Conference

So, I’m here in Missoula, Montana for the Fall MACDS Conference.  It was yet another adventure to get here, and we had a bit of a scare on my flight into Atlanta.  We were about to land, when all of sudden, the plane started going up again– the pilot said there was a problem with the wing flaps and they needed to do some tests, but just in case of problems, there’d be an emergency crew on the ground :(   .  Great!  Needless to say, I was very relieved to land ok, and see the group of firetrucks along side of us, go back to their station.  Phew, That’s a bit much on my nerves.

We then had  a bumpy ride over the mountains/hills of Montana, but no emergency vehicles that time :) .  Anywho, I’m here and today I met w/ two of the local agencies using us.  First, it was over to MDSC and then off to meet with Jenece at ORI.   We discussed some of the new features of 7.1 and I was able to get great feedback from both agencies.  They both are here in Missoula, and tomorrow I will be presenting at the conference, with the help of Jenece who can share the user perspective.

I have to say how beautiful it was here in the daylight, when I could see the surrounding hills.  It reminded me a bit of Washington, but the hills were much closer, and not as desert-like.  I was even more impressed at dusk, where the hills seemed to be aglow against the slate-blue sky.  Almost didn’t seem real.   For some reason, I want to say it’s a mix between Wenatchee, WA, and the Poconos in PA, though, I think it may be just the vibe I’m getting here, and not really an exact resemblance.

Tomorrow, I’m back to ORI in the morning to go over Billing, and then back to the Conference, before heading home overnight.
