Monday in Buffalo
Yesterday I spent the day with one of our users in very upstate New York, going over the wonderful world of TMS, or Therap’s Training Management System. This is a very extensive module, that we are also offering a series of 3 webinars on. Part 1 was today, but don’t worry– if you missed it, look out for the recording and just sign up for the next two here. I unfortunately, didn’t get the time to check out the city or Niagara Falls, as it was about 8 hrs up and dark when I got there, and then 8 hrs back and slushy when I left, but maybe next time.
T-Girl in New York
Â

This is the main menu for training staff
This week, T-girl and I are in New York training one of our newest users, Sullivan Arc. So far we’ve trained about 250 staff on tlogs, GERs, and Scomms, — along w/ Health Tracking for Nurses and Service Coordinators. Â It’s been very valuable to be able to run the T-girl automated training live, so that I can see where things work and where we can improve. Â Not to mention, that I still have a voice thanks to T-girl. Â Staff here have been great, and as always, it’s great to hear staff say: “when can we get started?!” Â The weather has also been beautiful up here, so I’m hoping that it persists for the weekend as well. Â Tomorrow, we’ve got a full day of training and then we wrap up on Friday. Â Kudos to Tasha for being able to fit 21 laptops in a rooms– she’ll also be a Therap pro, having listened to every single training

Therap in Fishkill, NY

Today we’re in Fishkill, NY for our Annual Provider Administrator Conference. Â Basically, we spent the day doing team meetings and getting set up before the attendees arrive for the official start, tomorrow morning. Â We have several new team members, so it’s a good time to get acquainted and learn about each other and Therap. Â We welcomed, Joe from Florida, Ken from DC, Jenny from NY, and Jeff from MO. Â It was also nice hearing about operations in Bangladesh from Masum, Shawon, Tanm, and Sajjadul.

Day 1 @ NYSACRA

Even the rugs were orange, when we were done…
Yesterday, Maureen and I arrived to set up for the NYSACRA conference. It’s pretty neat, because for the first time, we are providing an Internet Cafe, where attendees can surf the web, check email, or whatever they need to do. We also offer Therap games for them to try for Therap baseball caps. This took a bit of time setting up, but really came out nicely. The room was officially Therap-ized.

At the Internet Cafe, we serve fresh Therap, not coffee
This conference is being held in the beautiful Sagamore Hotel, which is on a small island on Lake George. I’ve never been to this area, but I can definitely appreciate why there’s such a tourist draw here during the summer season. The lake is gi-normous and just beautiful.. We’ve also been lucky, and though it’s chilly in the morning and night- it’s been really sunny and comfortable during the day. We were joined by Richard and his Dad and today started the conference. The booth was real busy w/ traffic and interest, and people seemed to enjoy being able to use the Internet Cafe. Maureen also led a session on ‘Implementing Therap in a NY Provider’, and it was nice to be joined by some of our current users from TRC and New Hope Community. We always appreciate user support!

The lovely view of Lake George just outside the hotel
After the day wrapped up, we then hopped over to Saratoga, which is a very cute town, with great architecture and beautiful trees lining, what appeared to be, their main street. We had a nice dinner at an Italian Restaurant- Forno, which had a very unique, cool atmosphere, and then headed back to the hotel.

Warren, we knew you had a house in the Adirondacks,– but a whole town?!
Until tomorrow,

Day 2 in New York
So today, Justin and I had another full day of training up here in New York. Everyone has been really positive, and eager to learn, which is always a great thing. I’m also closer by to some family in Stroudsburg, PA, so tomorrow, I’ll get the chance to drive there, and visit overnight, before coming back for more training on Thursday.
Let the training begin…

Justin and I are off to a great start, here in Loch Sheldrake, NY. I drove up here last night, and was pretty excited to use the new GPS system. It worked perfect, and only took me about 2 hours to get here. We are working with New Hope Community, doing mass trainings to get all of their staff self-enrolled and ready to start using T-logs, GER’s, HT, and S-Comms by Friday. We’ve got 1 more training to go today, and then it’s more of the same until Friday
New York and New Class…

Next week, Justin and I will be heading off to Liberty, NY to do some mass training w/ the folks at New Hope. They’ll be going ‘live’ with Therap on Friday, so should be a busy and exciting week for us. It’ll also be my first time doing mass trainings w/ Justoon so it’ll be nice to learn from his approach of teaching.Â
I’m also back to school this Friday, where I’ll be learning about Fund Writing and Grant Sources, as part of my requirement for my Special Education MS that I’m pursuing. I’m also pairing this with getting my Teaching Certification, but I’m hoping to knock the Master’s out quicker, since I’m about half way into it, if not more :) I’ve definitely found that the further along you get in your schooling the easier it seems to be. It’s also nice because I managed to pick up some info. on just this topic at some of the conferences I’ve been to, which is a win-win situation.

NYSRA
Yesterday was the New York State Rehab. Assoc. Annual Leadership Training Institute Conference held in Albany, NY. There were 20+ exhibitors and it was held in the courtyard of the Desmond Hotel. I also got the chance to meet some people from The Resource Center, who are users. It was nice chatting with them and hearing that they were very satisfied w/ their relationship w/ us, and that staff just ‘love’ using us.
Now I’m in Oklahoma, for the OK DDSD conference that starts tomorrow.
More later,
Kara
