Software for Developmental Disability Providers

Therap and Electronic Medicaid Claims

Image of the map of the MaineCurrently four Maine providers using the combination of Therap for service documentation and tracking and the Provider Billing Network for generating claims and submitting Medicaid claims electronically. Progress in electronic claiming has been faster than was anticipated and the reports have been positive.

There is also a pilot using Therap to track mental health services and the Provider Billing Network to submit claims in the works. Working with the Provider Billing Network Therap has been able to continue offering a high level of service at an affordable rate.

Billing in Maine

A lot has been happening with Billing in Maine. The new Medicaid claims system is up and running and Therap is working on getting it’s Billing system up and running. In addition Therap is working with Medical Billing Network a medical billing vendor. As a medical billing vendor Medical Billing Network can process private insurance, co pays, and mental health services as well as Waiver services. Currently one provider is using Therap’s basic Billing capability to generate service records and those service records are forwarded to Medical Billing Network for processing. Once the claim is adjudicated Medical Billing Network sends the provider a completed receivable record.

The next task we are working on with Medical Billing Network is Maine’s complex residential calculation. There is a working model in place that will be piloted shortly. Therap does not have a formal partnership with the Medical Billing Network, but that organization has agreed to provide Therap users with a discounted rate.

Contact me at ken.slavin@therapservices.net to learn more about this program or to see how Maine residential rates will be processed.

The General Event Reports (GERs) also known as the Incident Reports have been designed to track multiple related incidents for an individual. Using the General Event Reporting tool, users can report and follow-up on a wide range of incidents including injuries, behavioral concerns and accidents among others.

Therap Incident Reporting (GER) has a section called State Specific Information. This section allows you to report events according to the specifications of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and replicates your entries in the Maine Department of Health and Human Services Reportable Events State Form.
