First Snow, CO
I’ve been traipsing around the Denver region this week visiting some of our long term Therap customers as well as initiating some newbies that have recently joined the Therap family. Lucky me I was able to experience the first snowfall of the season and glory be it was simply breathtaking! Unfortunately I did not have my real camera and had to rely on the cell …lesson learned but the photgraphs were able to capture the beaty although in not perfect detail:

A New Therapite in CO!
Brent Hessee has joined our Therap family and will be giving support to our many providers in CO. As is typically of all of us here in the US, he has extensive experience within the DD community and was the Director of a day services program for the past 8 years!

Now the down side is I see my future trips out to Colorado as quickly diminishing :(

Colorado & Montana in 4 days
This week was a busy one, spending two days in MT for our conference and what wonderful weather we had! MT has had a harsh spring with lot’s of flooding locally and that is kinda scary considering the snow in the rockies have yet to melt.

Then I was in CO for about a total of 29 hours on the ground …however I was able to take a quick 20 minute hike up to Pulpit Rock in Colorado Springs… a little side track while here for more Carmel trainings!
This would have been a nice photograph in color but unfortunately it was high noon and the intensely bright day washed out the beautiful color of the rocks.

Desert, Mountains, Water…
I spent the Memorial Day weekend scouting around Colorado Springs and exploring a few hikes within a myriad of differing environments …the most impressionable was Great Sands, difficult to photograph due to the light and sometime whipping sands (quite painful at times) :
And of course I could not forget the hike to Pancake Rock with the 1,500 ft elevation gain and intense winds wich made this shot Very difficult to shoot, I could barely stand up straight!

Carmel Rocks!
I’ve been working with Carmel who is a totally hip provider in Colorado and they are Psyched about Therap…. not only about their ability to run more efficiently but also about the amount of money they will be saving on making endless copies of paper as well as not having to buy countless amounts of new three ring binders (we all know how much Those cost!). I must say they are the first company within Therap I have personally come across that do indeed Compost,…although I must admit I did have to read the directions very carefully to ensure my Starbucks coffee cup met the compost standards:

And indeed it did…..cause Starbucks also Rocks.

More adventures from CO
I’ve been in Grand Junction for less then 24hrs but managed to get one new agency trained as well as visit my old friends at MESA, whom I had spent some quality time with a few months back. Because this trip was so brief I decided to take a little puddle jumper from Denver to Grand Junction and not sure if I’ll ever be doing That again. It was a pretty bumpy ride and we landed in Grand Junction a half hour after the airport had just reopened due to a fluke snow storm having rolled through…we had apparently flown right through it and I kept imagining during that rocky ride our little plane plummeting from the air due to my excessive luggage weight (not personal items, mind you…but the 20 computers I lug around all in the name of Therap). But I suppose it was best that I did fly as there was a 20 car pile up on route 70 going over the pass that day as well as a few cars being pummeled by falling boulders….best to avoid those types of dramas, I suppose.

The B&W images are of the Colorado National Monument which is just minutes from Grand Junction and which I will have to expolore further if I ever get out that way again….simply beautiful!

The java fix
I’m back in Colorado starting up a few new agencies and have come across a delightful little coffee shack which not only serves awesome java but has a delightful name: The Human Bean

They also give you a chocolate covered espresso bean with every coffee and todays little delight looked exactly like the European Cuckoo egg! An interesting little fact about this particular cuckoo bird is that they are part of the brood parasite species which lay their eggs in the nests of other birds of a different species and their offspring is cared for by foster parents.

An artsy weekend!
Last week I was in Colorado to work with a few new agencies and took advantage of being in Denver over a long weekend to catch up on my neglected artsy side. I was lucky enough to be there at a great time as it was Arts weekend and all the museums were open extra hours so I was able to hit almost all of the major ones
The Denver Arts Museum had a delightful exhibit featuring functional bamboo from the Litz collection and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science main attraction was the Genghis Khan treasures…fascinating, a wealth of information to take in and includes live performances by Mongolian contortionists and singers/musicians….you must see this if you’re in the area!!
And the last visit was to the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (MCA Denver). One artist on display was Jim Green, his work explores sound and his current mischievous piece was rather humorous as it incorporates whoopee cushions…instantly brought me back to my childhood and how I use to torture my grandparents all day on Christmas by sneaking in a whoopee cushion right before they sat down.

gotta love contemporary art!
