Chairman of the Board and CEO, Richard Robbins brings to Therap a unique combination of experiences which is critical to its success in serving developmental disabilities community. In addition to founding and managing several successful technology-based companies, he has a direct operational understanding of the developmental disabilities community.

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Brandeis University, Richard worked with James Kelly at a 12-site private residential school and treatment center for children with developmental disabilities in Massachusetts. Later, he earned an MBA at Harvard School of Business and worked as an investment banker before becoming an independent financial adviser, investor, founder, and manager of a number of companies that are heavily dependent on large-scale, highly secure and reliable technical systems. Among these was InterExchange, which operated the United States’ largest international telephone debit card service platform. Richard has been one of the founders and Chief Operating Officer.

Richard also founded Community Options, Inc., a management company that develops day programs and residential facilities in Connecticut, with James Kelly. Richard continues to serve as a board member for the company. He is also on the board of the Genetic Disease Foundation at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
