Developmental disabilities software provider develops electronic interface for OPWDD IRMA

WATERBURY, Conn., Dec. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — For developmental disabilities support providers in New York, Therap has developed an electronic system to interface with the OPWDD IRMA (Incident Reporting and Management Application).

OPWDD requires developmental disabilities support providers in New York to submit all reportable incidents, seriously reportable incidents and allegations of abuse (defined in the 14 NY CRR Part 624 Handbook) to Developmental Disabilities Services Offices (DDSO) through the OPWDD Incident Report and Management Application (IRMA).

“Therap has been working with New York OPWDD to develop an electronic IRMA interface for Therap’s web-based incident report management system,” said Kevin Lightle, Therap’s Regional Director of Training and Support. “The goal is to take away the need to complete duplicate documentation.” The electronic interface will allow users to complete Therap incident reports (including OPWDD 147 forms), and then export them in a special XML format, built to OPWDD IRMA field specifications. The XML can then be uploaded into IRMA.

Therap offers the full range of documentation software services for the New York developmental disabilities community. The web-based application suite is continuously upgraded to comply with OPWDD, DDSO, OMIG, and CMS standards. Therap incident reports support the OPWDD 147 form and comply with Jonathan’s Law. In addition to its generic suite of web-based applications (e.g., electronic health records, progress notes, individual and emergency data forms and behavior tracking), Therap offers New York specific Individual Service Plans (ISP), habilitation plans, Individual Plan of Protective Oversight and Safeguards (IPOP), and Medicaid Service Coordination (MSC) notes. Therap also provides an Electronic Billing system for residential habilitation, day habilitation and other ICF/DD service providers in New York.

With Therap Electronic Billing system, OPWDD institutional claims can be directly sent to the eMedNY – Electronic Medicaid system of the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). The software has been approved by the Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) – MMIS Vendor for eMedNy and NYSDOH for HIPAA v5010 electronic claim production in New York.

Therap Electronic Billing – 5010 Ready for New York

Therap’s Electronic Billing software is now HIPAA 5010 ready for developmental disabilities support providers in New York.

As of November 16, 2011, The Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), eMedNY and Trading Partner Service provider in New York, has approved Therap’s ASC X12 version 5010 electronic transactions for submitting institutional claims to New York State Department of Health (NYDOSH).

With Therap Electronic Billing, institutional claims can be directly sent to the eMedNY (Electronic Medicaid of New York) system.

In addition to producing claims, users are able to track claim status and view remittance reports.

Version 5010 approved in Kansas, Florida and New York

ASC X12 version 5010 is the latest HIPAA transaction standard. All developmental disabilities support providers  and other covered entities will have to transition to 5010 by January 1, 2012.

KMAP’s (Kansas Medical Assistance Program) EDI team has approved Therap’s ASC X12 version 5010 compliant software for claim production as of November 7, 2011. In addition to producing claims, users are able to track claim status and view remittance reports.

Therap’s comprehensive electronic billing solution handles the entire billing process for providers, covering service authorizations, billing/attendance records management, claim submission and status tracking. The electronic billing system supports the Kansas Day Habilitation per diem unit calculation and the unique Targeted Case Management unit calculation methods utilized by KMAP.

Therap’s ASC X12 version 5010 electronic billing has also been approved by EDS, MMIS vendor in Florida and Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) – Trading Partner services provider in New York.

With Florida APD moving into quarterly service authorizations with the iBudget system, Therap’s electronic billing will be helpful for HCBS/DD waiver service providers in the state to maximize utilization.

In New York, the 5010 compliant billing system will be useful for Day Hab, Res Hab, IRA, Pre Vocational and other ID/DD service settings by allowing them to submit and track Medicaid claims. Therap also supports the Hab Checklist for users in New York.

In the coming weeks, Therap’s 5010 electronic billing system will be ready for the States of Colorado, Wyoming, Delaware and Alaska.

Checked out a User Group lately?

I had the opportunity to meet with some really fun professionals and join my colleague Kevin Lightle (also a lot of fun!) at our User Group Meeting yesterday, hosted by The Arc of Schuyler in Watkins Glen, New York.   If you haven’t attended one of our user groups before, you’re missing out on a great afternoon! Don’t let the name fool you, while these are very informative sessions that are chock full of module demonstrations and as many answers (and more likely more questions) that we at Therap can provide, you won’t spend the day discussing a billion and one uses for t-logs… Attendees from The Arc of Schuyler and Ontario ARC joined in to share their experiences as they took the leap to using Therap.   It was a great opportunity to hear what others were doing to meet regulations, adapt new policies, and there isn’t any better motivator to make the transition than to hear from another agency that you’re not the only one doing it!

Much thanks to Jason Santobianco at The Arc of Schuyler for hosting and putting together such a productive afternoon. The not-so-secret fact of the matter is that these sessions are as vital for us to hear from agencies and your experiences and suggestions as it is for you to hear about the newest and latest at Therap.  So if you’re interested in attending an upcoming user group meeting, check out the following links to attend in New York, or to join in on informative phone-hosted groups in New Mexico and Missouri:

And if you ever get the chance to take a day trip, Watkins Glen is a really pretty village to get in a few snapshots and enjoy some of the local vineyards.   Now if I can just break in my blogging shoes and figure out how to upload photos…

Fabulous National PA Conference at Fishkill, NY

We are having a fabulous conference. The new Individual Home module is a big hit. Everyone loves it! It seems to be the way to the future. We are getting loads of new ideas every day. Today was the 2nd day at the conference.

Last night we had an excellent Hibachi dinner. This is the first Japanese food I could eat. Got a Maki roll too, not too bad.

To make the conference even more exciting, our fate decided that there would be a fire alarm and everyone was evacuated out, to the below freezing weather! I had my lunch plate on my hands! Turned out it was a false alarm, due to some water pipe breaking somewhere in the hotel.
