Candeo’s Pod Hodge Podge Earns Honors!

Last week I blogged about Candeo’s Data Entry Traveling Trophy.  If you missed the blog, here’s the high level overview…CANDEO-IA 2

Each service coordinator team (which Candeo references as a “pod”) has a weekly goal for ISP Program migration (from their former platform to Therap).  When all pods reach their mark, they will be fully prepared for staff training starting on December 7th.

This week, the Pod Hodge Podge has won the honor and possession of the  Candeo Therap Trophy.  They have migrated 100% of their ISP Programs.  I am told this is far ahead of the target!  Congrats to Hodge Podge.  Great Job!!

Stay tuned to see which Pod earns the trophy next week.

Candeo’s Data Entry Traveling Trophy

CANDEO-IA 2

The Traveling Therap Trophy.

Candeo, a new Therap User Agency in Johnston, Iowa,  is in the throes of implementing Therap.   They selected Therap to be prepared for advent of Managed Care, which coming to Iowa in 2016.  With the goal of having their new process launched on January 1st, the agency began implementation in early August of 2015.

Presently, sites, programs, individuals, enrollments and staff have been entered.  Candeo reports they are ahead of schedule and moving foward with Staff Scheduling Master Schedule builds and ready to really dig into Billing Plus functionality.  They have been “rockin’ it”!!

With the “GO LIVE” date approaching fast, they are busy entering ISP Programs for data collection.  To keep the process fun (and slightly competitive), they have introduced a “traveling trophy” to mark progress.

Iowa Therap Conference Recap

IMG_0857Thanks to all who attended the Iowa Therap Conference in West Des Moines, September 30th through October 1st.   All indications are that attendees enjoyed the session content and learned some new Therap tricks.   Once the coffee service was squared away and the internet service adjusted, the conference ended up being a great success.

I have been receiving comments from attendees that the combination of small and large providers was quite a benefit.  The exchange of ideas was well received by all.  This is one of the main reasons Therap hosts these events…networking and shared learning within the Therap User Community.  The best practices come from those who use the platform each and every day….YOU!

Speaking for myself, as I have only been with Therap a short while, it was a pleasure to meet our new and tenured customers.   It’s always great to put a face with a name.

Feedback for next year is always actively sought!  Please let me know what you would like to see more of next year.  I have received comments that indicate that experienced users would like to see more detailed sessions on module functionality…sessions that dig deeper.   I have also fielded suggestions that we be really specific as to what sessions are geared for beginner, intermediate and expert users.   This is the kind of information we seek to keep these events fresh and informative.

I also wanted to sayIMG_0875 thank you to our friends from Direct Course / College of Direct Support for presenting on Day 2 of the Conference.   It is always good to have them with us.   Additionally, IACP members had the opportunity learn more about this great program that is included in their membership.

Don’t forget…. The Iowa User Group Webinar is being held on October 26th at 2:00pm local time.  The meeting will last approximately 1 hour.  Register to attend!

As always…Best to you!

Jeff

The Minnesota Conference… WOW!

IMG_0812Another Minnesota Therap Conference has come and gone.  It was the first conference I had a hand in organizing at the local level.  Given my predisposition to over think everything, I had a few sleepless nights prior to the event.  But, when all was said and done… this was a great meeting!

What made it great was the active participation of our attendees.  New users, tenured users and non-users made up the 112 participants and ALL were engaged.

This level of discourse is what makes these conferences worthwhile.  It was (and is) clear that the Therap community in Minnesota is not afraid to ask the tough questions of Therap staff and/or each other.  It was a tremendous learning experience.

I was pleasantly surprised at the unsolicited comments I received via email.  Here are just a few…

  • “Thanks Jeff.  We found the Conference very helpful and informative.”   – Matt Sharp, Living Well.
  • “Thank you for the best conference EVER!!!! ” – Leanne Negley, Rural Living Environments.
  • “Thank you.  It was a great session!!”  – Bethany McCabe, Cardinal of Minnesota.

Well… I appreciate the kudos, but this was a team effort and, more importantly, without our Therap user community, none of this would have been possible.

From our team to you…

ARRM Technology Showcase

IMG_20150804_090503295

Last week (August 3-4) I had the opportunity to attend the ARRM Technology Showcase in Bloomington, Minnesota.   The focus of the event was to discuss how technology is impacting the I/DD industry and to visit with vendors about their various tech tools.  Of the 150-200 attendees, there were 30-35 current Therap users representing about 20 Minnesota agencies.

I had the pleasure of meeting these users, answering questions and visiting about the recent Release, Individual Based Caseloads, how the Billing Plus functionality works with the MN-ITs system… lots of great conversation.

It was also great to meet agencies that were not electronic database users  and show them the advantages of using the Therap System.  This group was interested in seeking solutions.

The conference adjourned Tuesday afternoon, and after talking to the last agency in the hall, I packed the booth, gathered my materials and decided to not work in the hotel room.  I had been there since Sunday afternoon and was seeking some outdoor venue to check email and touch base other clients and contacts.  Since this was a technology show and I do “work in the cloud”, why not checkout a local lake with internet access?  There are 10,000 lakes in the state, right?

So, by 5:30pm, I was sitting at Lord Fletcher’s dock on Lake Minnetonka,  doing catch-up work, having a walleye sandwich and ice tea.   A great way to cap off a very good conference.

(BTW – No mosquitoes!)

Thanks to ARRM for hosting the event.  I look forward to attending next summer.

Minnesota Therap Conference, Aug. 18-19

REGISTER TODAY!

Minnesota Therap Users… time is running short to take advantage of the “Early Bird” discount when registering for the Minnesota Therap Conference.

This year’s location is the BEST WESTERN PREMIER Nicollet Inn14201 Nicollet Ave S., in Burnsville.  According to Google Reviews, 4.7  of 5 Stars.  The venue looks to be fantastic!

I’ve been attending these conferences while at my previous agency assignment and in my new role with the company.  One would think that I may have “heard it all”… but, I must say… I learn something new at each of these events.  Please, don’t look at the preliminary schedule and think, “Hmmmm, I know all of this stuff” and choose not to attend.  There’s always something to learn.

In June, I attended the Nebraska Therap Conference in Omaha.  The exchange of information between providers was impressive.

I was involved in the eMAR discussion.  As it turned out, most of the users in the room use the MAR modules.  After the overview, the floor was opened up for questions and the following was quickly asked by a newer user agency, “How do you do your schedule 2 med counts in Therap?

Within 5 minutes, several methods were being discussed.  All viable.  All were met with nodding heads and follow-up questions.  People walked away saying, “I’m going to try their method.  I thought ours was the only way to do that.”  Moreover, the dialogue nearly spilled over into the next session.  People needed to take a seat or go to where the were planning.

If you cannot attend, send others from your agency!  Send your direct support staff.  Send your finance team.  Provide your organization the opportunity to expand the collective knowledge base, especially with a tool that is used daily to gather data that can, arguably, be vital to your operation.

DO YOU HAVE  A FAVORITE THERAP MODULE?   Why not present at the conference?  You are the expert.  You use the platform each and every day in the Great State of Minnesota.  SHARE your experiences.  Please contact me directly if you would like to do so.

See you soon!

Jeff Mau

A visit to Clear Lake, Iowa is not complete…

…without swinging by the Surf Ballroom.    I had a quick moment before meeting with a Therap user agency to snap this picture on May 20th.

The Surf Ballroom (the Surf) is a Historic Rock and Roll Landmark at 460 North Shore Drive, Clear Lake, Iowa. The Surf is closely associated with the event known colloquially as “The Day the Music Died” – early rock and roll stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson gave their last performances at the Surf on February 2, 1959 as part of the “Winter Dance Party Tour”.
