Sazzad hits his limit!

It was great this past weekend to have Sazzad in KC as we prepared for our trip through Nebraska meeting with service coordinators and providers in the Husker state. One thing you may not know about Sazzad is the man loves steak. It is rare, no pun intended, that Sazzad gets his fill of steak. So this past weekend it was my quest to take him to a place where he would get his fill on great steak. Not just meat, but steak, good, tender steak. So Saturday night we met up at a place on the Plaza in KC called Fogo de Chao. It is a great Brazilian steak house.

Meeting up with Sazzad on Plaza

Sazzad waits patiently in front of the meat as it is prepared,

My wife Rebecca tries to convince Sazzad they will keep bringing him Steak until he tells them to stop.

Sazzad has had enough and turns the card to RED. Mission Accomplished!

Our Thoughts go out to RSI and others in Duluth, MN

To say that the reports and pictures from Duluth are shocking is an understatement. To see the area in the pictures compared to what I saw in the area just a couple of weeks ago is hard to put into perspective. Our thoughts go out to RSI and others in the Duluth area as they try to dry out and put things back together. Click on the link below to see more…

Michelle Saunders Joins us in the Midwest!!!

It is great for me to welcome to our Midwest Therap Team Michelle Saunders. She is going to be a great representative for us and she will be based in the Chicago area. Please see her bio and a great picture below. Please join me in welcoming her to the Therap Team…

Welcome to the Team Michelle!

Michelle received her Bachelor’s degree from Juniata College in Pennsylvania majoring in Education and Psychology. She began her career with persons with disabilities as a direct care staff person while in college and then as a Case Manager in the Central Pennsylvania region. She returned to the provider side after a couple of years and quickly moved into supervisory roles, managing several homes for persons with disabilities. Michelle relocated to Missouri in 2005 and worked as a consultant for ACT (Alternative Community Training) in Columbia, Missouri. After providing feedback regarding ways to improve services, Michelle accepted a position to assist with the day to day operations of the Day Services program. As a program director, Michelle also assisted with grant applications, led training efforts and spoke throughout the U.S. about training and evolution of program delivery through ACT. Michelle was also instrumental in efforts to bring College of Direct Support and Therap to her agency. Michelle became a Therap Certified Trainer in June of 2010.

Week in Minnesota!

I just returned back to Kansas City after spending a week with 3 awesome agencies in Minnesota! First I did some onsite training with the great supervisors and DSP’s at JEC Miller.

Awesome staff at JEC Miller!!

Cool quote on the wall in the training room

I then met with the Executive Director and Supervisors at Genesis Group Homes and they certainly tested my Therap knowledge! They have a couple of Therap experts there! I think the session was incredibly beneficial for both of us! After Genesis Group Homes I was able to chat with a few of the supervisors at Rudolph Community and Care about the implementation of Therap at their agency.

Of course my second favorite part of being in Minnesota (other than visiting with the amazing providers of course) was visiting the Mall of America… the whole ‘no sales tax on clothes or shoes’ will be the death of my bank account!

This store calls my name... all of the time....

There’s a lot going on with Therap in Minnesota so I’m sure I’ll be seeing you all again very soon! Until next time Therapville!

Just awesome!

I met with Individual Expressions in Lees Summit yesterday for their on site training. They are a growing agency that is extremely excited to start using Therap! After the training, Mark Fortin was able to show me a cool storage area for there laptops while they are in the home!

If you’re looking for safety….here we go!

Simply awesome Mark!

I look forward to meeting with other agencies around the Midwest. See ya Soon!

Southern Hospitality & Midwest Memories

I was able to spend some time with the awesome people of The Charles Lea Center in South Carolina a few weeks ago and discovered southern hospitality was no joke! When leaving The Charles Lea Center it felt like leaving family, even though Stacey and I were only there a few days.

Charles Lea Center Staff

Stacey and I also enjoyed pizza as big as our faces at Venus Pie Pizzeria in Spartanburg, SC!

New York Style Pizza!

Last week Jeff, Justin, and I spent a few days training the Service Coordinators in Lincoln, NE! We reviewed GER’s and management summaries with them. Nebraska will also soon begin using a referral module created for them by Therap. The Service Coordinators seemed very excited and we had many ask when they would be able to use even more parts of the system.

Nebraska Service Coordinators

However, my favorite part about getting to go to Lincoln for work is seeing my family! My second favorite part is getting to see my cute doggy who is living with her grandparents until I have a little more time to hang out with her!

My puppy Smudge!

I am spending this week in Minnesota! Check back next week for photos of the amazing agencies I am working with here this week!

If you are in Missouri or Minnesota I hope you will take some time to register and plan on attending the upcoming user group meetings we have scheduled for these two states. You can sign up for the sessions from the website under upcoming user group meetings. Please take advantage of these opportunities.
