Therap Team visits SGCP, Nepal, April 2018

The Self-help Group for Cerebral Palsy (SGCP), Nepal has been providing support to people with Cerebral Palsy in Nepal since 1987. It’s the only non-governmental and non-profit organization in Nepal dedicated to support people with cerebral palsy and their families.

Therap team is delighted to visit SGCP, Nepal yet again on April 12, 2018 with Therap USA Personnel Michelle Saunders, Business Development Consultant, Joshua Corzantes, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist, Ishya “Shae” Dotson, State Implementation Specialist, Fayonne Johnson, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist along with Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive and other Quality Assurance professionals from Therap Bangladesh team.

Mr. Bimal L Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer, SGCP, Nepal welcomed the Therap team warmly.

SGCP was registered with Therap on 2017 and since then they are using Therap to maintain their daily documentation of the individuals and other day to day task.

Therap team then had a tour to the beautiful premises of SGCP and the beauty of SGCP facility fascinated everyone. It had neat and clean premises with various kinds of fruit tree and flower plants. Therap team visited the classrooms of SGCP and had the opportunity to interact with the teachers and got to know the activities and tasks they do in different classrooms.

Later on, Therap team had a discussion with SGCP authority and discussed further implementation plan of Therap in SGCP. Therap team had the opportunity to demonstrate one of Therap’s popular module ISP to the SGCP team and they liked ISP Report very much which is a useful module to see an Individual’s progress on a specific IEP in a graphical interface. SGCP team also expressed their interest to use Therap’s other modules in future which can make the day to day documentation more easier for them.

Therap team expresses thankfulness to SGCP, Nepal team for inviting Therap to visit SGCP again and wishes to continue working with them in future also.

Therap Team Visits SERC School, April 2018

Special Education and Rehabilitation Center ( SERC School ) for Disabled Children was established in 2009 with the objective of providing quality services and support to people living with physical and intellectual disability.

Therap team is delighted to visit SERC school yet again on April 12, 2018 with Therap USA Personnel Michelle Saunders, Business Development Consultant, Joshua Corzantes, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist, Ishya “Shae” Dotson, State Implementation Specialist, Fayonne Johnson, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist along with Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive, Asad Uzzaman Sazzad, Training and Implementation Specialist and other Quality Assurance professionals from Therap Bangladesh team.

Mr. Anish, General Manager, SERC school and Kalpana Basnet, Pediatric Physiotherapist, SERC school welcomed Therap team warmly at the school’s new premises at Lalitpur, Nepal. The school had very recently shifted from its Baluwatar location to Lalitpur. So the new premises of the school was still under construction.

SERC school has been using Therap since 2016. They were using one of Therap’s most popular modules T-Log for quite a long. As SERC school follows IEP for every individual and also has to make a report over a period of time for that IEP, so they showed interest to use Therap’s another popular module ISP. Therap team saw the hardcopy of the IEP plan and IEP report format that SERC school is following for the individuals. The Therap team shared their ideas and thoughts with SERC team members on how SERC’s IEP formats can be implemented through Therap’s ISP module.

Later on, Therap team visited the classrooms of SERC school and was privileged to see the activities and services provided in different classrooms for different individuals.

The Therap team expresses gratitude to SERC authority for inviting Therap team to visit the new premises of SERC school and also wishes to continue working with SERC school in future.

Therap Team Visits Navjyoti Centre, April 2018

As an aim to providing services to the children with special needs and making them self reliant, Navjyoti Centre has been working actively in the disability industry for many years.

Therap team is delighted to visit Navjyoti Centre yet again on April 12, 2018 with Therap USA Personnel Michelle Saunders, Business Development Consultant, Joshua Corzantes, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist, Ishya “Shae” Dotson, State Implementation Specialist, Fayonne Johnson, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist along with Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive and other Quality Assurance professionals from Therap Bangladesh team.

Lisa Perekkatt, SCN, Navjyoti Centre welcomed Therap team warmly. Therap team got the opportunity to meet a team from Belgium there who had been jointly working with Navjyoti Centre on a skill development program which includes special educators as well as children with special needs of Navjyoti Centre. Being the global leader in electronic documentation, Therap team let the Belgium team know about Therap and the products and services provided by Therap. Belgium team was glad to hear about Therap and also shared their experiences with Therap team about their activities and projects that they are working on for the development of the disability industry.

Later on, Therap team visited the classrooms of Navjyoti Centre and had the opportunity to interact with the teachers and got to know how they are using Therap software for their daily documentation purpose. Therap team also had the opportunity to see the beautiful handicrafts products made by the special children of Navjyoti Centre which impressed the Therap team.

At the end, Therap team expresses thankfulness to the authority of Navjyoti Centre for inviting Therap team to visit Navjyoti Centre again and wishes to continue working collaboratively with them in future also.

Therap Team Visits BRAC Neurodevelopmental Disability Centre and One Room School, May 2018

BRAC, world’s top NGO starts its journey with Therap Asia. BRAC is an International development organisation working globally in Economic Development, Education, Public Health and also Disaster Relief sectors. BRAC showed keen interest to use Therap software for regular documentation in their Neurodevelopmental Disability(NDD) Centres and One Room Schools. Limia Dewan,Programme Manager Inclusive Education, from BRAC attended 2nd Annual Therap Dhaka Conference and showed interest to use Therap for BRAC NDD centres and One Room schools.

Before starting, it was important that Therap Asia team has a clear idea about the structure of BRAC NDD centres and One Room schools. That is why Therap Asia team visited some of the NDD centres and One Room schools. Therap Asia team along with Sarder Lutfor Rahman, Senior Sector Specialist Inclusive Education and Md Mohsin Ali, Sector Specialist Inclusive Education from BRAC went to visit the NDD centre situated at Karail Slum. BRAC NDD centres provides care specifically for the persons with disabilities. Children living in the Karail slum who are diagnosed with Neurodevelopmental Disability (Autism, Epilepsy etc) go to these BRAC NDD centres to get proper service and education. Teachers and therapists provide regular support to the persons with disabilities. Each NDD center, provides support to around 20 special children. The Therap team, was explained how these children receive care and support by the BRAC representatives.

Therap Asia team also visited several One Room schools situated in the Karail Slum and at Shyamoli. These One Room schools provides support and education to both person with and without disabilities. In each of the One Room school, there are 30 children and among them, some of them have disabilities. In One Room school the same children study from class one to class five under the supervision of the same teacher. One Room school has pre-primary sections also for the children who are about to start their education. All these information regarding BRAC NDD Centers and One Room school proved very helpful for the Therap Team. Once BRAC starts implementing Therap, these information will enable the Therap team an effective implementation process of the Therap software.

Therap Asia team observed that BRAC NDD centres and One Room schools are run in a very systematic way and the teachers are very responsible. At the moment they document regularly in paper but with Therap they will be able to document using digital platform to keep track of the data and generate reports which will help them to enhance the quality of services that they provide. Therap Asia is very excited and looking forward to a great journey with BRAC.

Therap Team Visit to SWID Laboratory Model School, April 2018

Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (SWID) Bangladesh is country’s one of the first organizations who started working with the Persons with Intellectual Disability (PWD) in Bangladesh since 1977. SWID Bangladesh currently has more than 450 branches all over Bangladesh. Therap was yet again, delighted to visit the main branch of SWID Bangladesh, SWID Laboratory Model School on April 5, 2018.

A team of 9 members from Therap which included Therap USA personnel Joshua Corzantes, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist, Ishya “Shae” Dotson, State Implementation Specialist along with Quality Assurance professionals from Therap Bangladesh team visited SWID Laboratory Model School.

Jowaherul Islam Mamun, Secretary General of SWID Bangladesh, welcomed the Therap team warmly.

Therap team’s tour to SWID Laboratory Model School began with attending the morning assembly routine performed by the special children of SWID Laboratory Model School. Then the Therap team visited the class rooms of SWID Laboratory Model School and was privileged to see the activities and services provided to the special childrens in each classroom. The authority also arranged a short cultural program for Therap team where all the performances were performed by special childrens of SWID Laboratory Model School.

Currently over 100 branches of SWID Bangladesh uses Therap all over Bangladesh. Later on the day, Therap team had a discussion with SWID authority regarding the further implementation plan of Therap to more SWID branches.

Therap Asia Starts Journey with BRAC, May 2018

Therap Asia starts an exciting journey with the world’s top NGO, BRAC. BRAC is an International development organisation working globally in Economic Development, Education, Public Health and also Disaster Relief sectors. Limia Dewan, Programme Manager Inclusive Education, from BRAC met with the Therap team at Therap Asia’s 2nd Annual Dhaka Conference, held in April 2018. After attending the sessions at the conference, BRAC showed keen interest to use Therap for their Neurodevelopmental Disability (NDD) Centers and One Room Inclusive Schools where they provide support to Persons With Disabilities (PWD).

Recently, Therap had an orientation with BRAC at one of the learning centers of BRAC, located at Uttara. Around 30 BRAC attendees were present at the orientation, which included Teachers, Program Organisers and Sector Specialists. Limia Dewan, Programme Manager Inclusive Education, along with Sanjoy kumar Saha, Manager (PWD), Sarder Lutfor Rahman, Senior Sector Specialist Inclusive Education and Md Mohsin Ali, Sector Specialist Inclusive Education were there to welcome members from the Therap Asia team.

The orientation to Therap software was given by Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive, Therap. He gave a presentation on the Therap software, where he provided information about what Therap is, what Therap does and what are the benefits of using Therap for the agencies providing support to the Persons With Disabilities(PWD). The attendees were really excited to know about the system and the functionalities of Therap. They also interacted with some very interesting questions.

The BRAC attendees, learned about the important Therap modules that are commonly used in Asia and their usefulness. The attendees were very excited to see that using Therap, their documentation will be faster, they will get to eliminate the use of paper and not waste huge amount of time in preparing reports. All the attendees showed interest and they are looking forward to use Therap for enhancing their quality of support. Therap Asia is also glad to get the opportunity to work with an organisation such as BRAC. The Therap Asia team looks forward to working collaboratively with BRAC for many more years to come.

Therap Team visited Bangladesh Protibondhi Foundation, April 2018

Therap team visited Bangladesh Protibondhi Foundation (BPF) main branch at Mirpur on April 8, 2018. A team of eleven people from Therap were present on that visit, which included Therap experts in the PWD field who has been working in the field of intellectual disability for more than 20 years. USA personnel Michelle Saunders (Business Development Consultant), Fayonne Johnson (Senior Training & Implementation Specialist) from Therap USA team along with Therap’s Asia team, Marketing team, Software Engineers and Quality Assurance professionals from Therap Bangladesh visited Bangladesh Protibondhi Foundation (BPF). BPF has been using Therap for documentation since 2016.

Bangladesh Protibondhi Foundation (BPF) is ensuring equal rights of children and persons with disabilities and creating opportunity for equal participation in all spheres of life and making them independent, self reliant and contributing member of the society.

Therap team reached school in the early morning. Dr. Shamim Ferdous (Executive Director, BPF) gave a warm welcome to Therap team. The team got a tour of the entire school building of BPF. Therap team visited the classrooms in BPF and had opportunity to look at different kinds of activities and services provided in every classroom. Dr. Shamim Ferdous explained each of their activities during the tour. Later in the day, there was a cultural program which was performed by the students. The Therap team enjoyed the cultural program and took photos with the children.

Therap Information Forum in Manila, Philippines

Therap is delighted to organize a successful Information Forum at Orchid Garden Suites in Manila, Philippines in collaboration with St Philomena School on February 16, 2018.

In attendance were many special education teachers along with school principals, administrators, speech therapists, psychometricians, developmental pediatricians and others. Prattay Iqbal (International Business Development Executive) and Johanna Kroth (Senior Training and Implementation Specialist) conducted the session. They explained to the attendees how Therap can enhance quality of services of the organizations dealing with disability and what values Therap can bring to the Persons with Disabilities (PWD). The attendees were very excited to know that there is a cloud based software for the organizations which support the Persons with Disabilities(PWD) which can ensure secure and effective documentation. The Information Forum was very interactive, the attendees had queries about the system and the features. Alphonsus De Alban School Administrator of St Philomena School also shared his views about Therap. The attendees were amazed to get introduced to a system like Therap and they wanted to sign up with Therap also.

Therap had a great information forum and they look forward to have more sessions like this in Philippines soon.

Therap Team visits Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten, February 2018

Therap team visited Jakarta, Indonesia in February 20, 2018. Johanna Kroth, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist and Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive from Therap visited Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten. They are providing residential support to orphans and persons with disabilities in Indonesia. Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten is using Therap to do their documentation for over one year.

During the visit Prattay Iqbal and Johanna Kroth provided training. Nine teachers were present during the training session. Sayap Ibu have been organizing their database through Therap. They are using Therap and updating the daily notes regularly. They found Therap useful and easy to document their data.They had lots of questions and queries for the Therap trainers and also some queries regarding Therap modules. Therap trainers were able to explain all the queries professionally. There were administrative training and teachers training provided.

It is always amazing for Therap to visit Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten. Therap looks forward to work with Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten for longer period of time.

Therap Team Visits PPRBM YPAC Nasional, February 2018

Therap visited Indonesia on February 2018 and had a training session with PPRBM YPAC Nasional. Johanna Kroth (Senior Training and Implementation Specialist) and Prattay Iqbal (International Business Development Executive) from Therap visited the school. Nana Moeljadi from YPAC Nasional gave Therap team a tour of the school. They have around 60 individuals in the school and they involve the individuals into various activities like music therapy, gardening, making handicrafts and other vocational training .

After visiting the school Therap team had a training session with teachers. Mr. Dedy Saputra, Mr. Daniel Eko Prihanto and Mr Wahyu were present in the training session. It was a fruitful training and the teachers learned about some new features which will help them to track data and to enhance the quality of services they are providing. PPRBM YPAC also provides community based services in remote areas. Therap team had a great time with the teachers and the individuals of PPRBM YPAC Nasional and they hope to visit the school again.
