Therap at Inclusion Self-Advocacy Workshop, Nepal

Therap participated in Inclusion Self-Advocacy Workshop on March 26, 2018 that took place in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was a two day workshop from March 26 to March 27, in partnership with Inclusion International and Parent Federation of Person with Intellectual Disabilities (PFPID). The training was guided by Inclusion International Empower Us self-advocate leaders Jayne from Kenya, Mark from Malawi and David from New Zealand.

Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive participated in the Workshop on representing Therap.

Inclusion International is an international network which works with persons with intellectual disabilities and advocates with over 115 of its member societies for the inclusion of persons with an intellectual disability in all aspects of their community. Inclusion has been working over fifty years for human rights and now they are representing almost 200 member federations in 115 countries over five regions of the world including Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia Pacific.

The session was mostly run by self-advocates. Twenty-five self-advocates were present in the training session.

It was a very informative workshop about Self-Advocacy and the rights for Persons with Disabilities. Therap is glad to be a part of the Workshop and hopes to work with Inclusion International for a long time in the future.

Therap Information Forum in Manila, Philippines

Therap is delighted to organize a successful Information Forum at Orchid Garden Suites in Manila, Philippines in collaboration with St Philomena School on February 16, 2018.

In attendance were many special education teachers along with school principals, administrators, speech therapists, psychometricians, developmental pediatricians and others. Prattay Iqbal (International Business Development Executive) and Johanna Kroth (Senior Training and Implementation Specialist) conducted the session. They explained to the attendees how Therap can enhance quality of services of the organizations dealing with disability and what values Therap can bring to the Persons with Disabilities (PWD). The attendees were very excited to know that there is a cloud based software for the organizations which support the Persons with Disabilities(PWD) which can ensure secure and effective documentation. The Information Forum was very interactive, the attendees had queries about the system and the features. Alphonsus De Alban School Administrator of St Philomena School also shared his views about Therap. The attendees were amazed to get introduced to a system like Therap and they wanted to sign up with Therap also.

Therap had a great information forum and they look forward to have more sessions like this in Philippines soon.

Therap Team visits Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten, February 2018

Therap team visited Jakarta, Indonesia in February 20, 2018. Johanna Kroth, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist and Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive from Therap visited Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten. They are providing residential support to orphans and persons with disabilities in Indonesia. Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten is using Therap to do their documentation for over one year.

During the visit Prattay Iqbal and Johanna Kroth provided training. Nine teachers were present during the training session. Sayap Ibu have been organizing their database through Therap. They are using Therap and updating the daily notes regularly. They found Therap useful and easy to document their data.They had lots of questions and queries for the Therap trainers and also some queries regarding Therap modules. Therap trainers were able to explain all the queries professionally. There were administrative training and teachers training provided.

It is always amazing for Therap to visit Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten. Therap looks forward to work with Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten for longer period of time.

Therap Team at St Philomena School, Philippines

Therap team was at Manila, Philippines during February, 2018. Prattay Iqbal (International Business Development Executive) and Johanna Kroth (Senior Training and Implementation Specialist) visited St Philomena school and conducted a training session with the staff and the school administrators. Therap team received a very warm welcome from St Philomena school management.

Around 60 special children are currently enrolled in St Philomena School and they have over 12 special education teachers to provide services. The school authority Alphonsus De Alban and Kimberly Casiño De Alban from St Philomena school first received basic training on the Therap software. Therap team later had a training session with all the teachers of the school. First, the teachers got to know about the various features that Therap has and how these features/modules are going to help them to track and document their data. Then the Therap team showed them how to use Therap and document in Therap. It was an interactive training session, the teachers had questions regarding the software and when they were clear about the benefits of using Therap, they were really excited to start documenting in Therap.

Therap team had a great training session with St Philomena School and they hope to continue working with the school and visit Philippines again.

Therap at Job Fair 2018 for The Persons with Disabilities in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Computer Council in association with ICT Division organized a Job Fair for persons with disabilities (PWD) on January 1, 2018. Therap was invited to the event by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) & Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) to attend this event. Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, Hon’ble State Minister for ICT Division attended the event as chief guest. It was a great opportunity for the employers who want to employ person with disabilities. The employers had a chance to meet the candidates personally and conduct interview sessions. There were drop boxes in place as well so that candidates can come in and drop their resumes. Therap had the opportunity to meet prospective candidates and received a lot of resumes during  the job fair. The job fair was insightful for Therap officials as they had the opportunity to meet some really talented and promising candidates throughout the event.

Therap Team at Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten

Johanna Kroth, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist and Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive from Therap Services visited Jakarta during the first week of November and visited few agencies working with persons with disabilities. Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten is one of the few organizations who are doing some amazing work for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Indonesia.

During the visit chairperson of Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten Ms. Renowati Hardjosubroto welcomed Therap team cordially. Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten is currently a prime example of implementing Therap in Indonesia. They have been successful in implementing Therap for most of their documentation which they use to do in paper. They have already created a database of all their students in Therap. They are very excited to use Therap for documenting progress and health information of all their students.

During the visit teachers from Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten had a training session with Johanna and Prattay. They had a lot of questions and were keen to learn more. Johanna with her 30 years of experience in the disability field shared her views with the teachers and was very excited to know about the work the teachers do. It was an amazing experience for Therap team to meet and speak with the hard working staff of Yayasan Sayap Ibu Cabang Provinsi Banten and hope to continue working together in the future.

Therap Team at Angels Care Foundation

A team of eight people from Therap visited the special school Angels Care Foundation on November 15, 2017. Therap Asia team along with USA personnel (with more than 20 years of experience)  Jason Laws (Business Development Consultant ), Sarah Christiansen (Training and Implementation Specialist)and several Programmer and Quality Assurance professionals from Therap Bangladesh visited the school.

Therap team reached school in the morning and all the teachers received them with a warm welcome. The president of the school Dr. Mushfequr Rahman and the Head Teacher Ms. Farzana Faruq were also present. Dr. Mushfequr Rahman, accompanied the Therap team during the  tour to all the classrooms of the school. In each classroom he explained how their teaching procedure works and how the children are improving their abilities. Some children showed their talent by reciting rhymes and reading from books. After that the school management had a discussion with the Therap team about how they are doing their daily documentation and how using Therap is helping them to improve their quality of services. The teachers also showed that how they actually do the digital documentation daily and also they shared their experience of using Therap on a daily basis. According to them it is much easier for them to track all the data about the children in Therap and they are really happy with it.

Few special children did some heartwarming performance for the Therap team. Later on Jason Laws and Sarah Christiansen thanked them for the invitation to their school. As this was the first visit to Bangladesh for Jason Laws and Sarah Christiansen, it was a pleasant experience for them to visit a special school like Angels Care Foundation.

Therap Team in Indonesia, visits Jakarta CP Center

During the first week of November Johanna Kroth, Senior Training and Implementation Specialist and Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive from Therap Services visited Jakarta to meet with organizations serving and working with persons with disabilities (PWD).

Therap Team started off with a mandatory sightseeing of the beautiful Jakarta city and visited the National Monument and the National Museum. Later on Johanna and Prattay attended a meeting with one of the pioneers for providing services to the PWD in Indonesia, an umbrella organization YPAC Nasional. YPAC  has many other branches all over Indonesia providing services to the PWD. YPAC  took  the Therap team to  one of their branch Jakarta CP Center and showed around the facility. YPAC is doing exemplary work with their services and are keen to implement Therap for their documentation. YPAC Jakarta also known as Jakarta CP Center is currently in the training phase of the implementation process with Therap and has continuous online training for better understanding of the Therap software.

Johanna with her 30 years of experience in the disability field shared her views with the teachers, therapists, administrators and expressed gratitude towards the organization for the services they are providing to the disability community. Overall it was a day well spent.

Therap visits Beautiful Mind for a Training Session

Beautiful Mind a special school in Uttara, Dhaka Bangladesh,  offers wide range of programs for children with autism and intellectually challenged children. Therap is delighted to provide training session to around 60 Teachers and Therapists of Beautiful Mind in the school’s large conference area.

Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive, Therap,  gave overview of Therap to the attendees. Earlier Threap had provided training to a batch of teachers in Beautiful Mind. As most of the attendees for the current session were new users Therap team along with Ms. Smrity from Beautiful Mind, helped new users to create user account. Therap mobile application was also introduced to the users to make work easier for these service providers. Users found it helpful to use Therap mobile application as they would be able to give their daily data on the go. Therap is looking forward to organize more such training session with Beautiful Mind.
