Visiting Moratuwa

Moratuwa is 18 km south of Colombo city centre. We visited Moratuwa as part of our visit to Sri Lanka this November. On our visit to Sri Lanka, we paid a visit to one of the institutions under Sisters of Charity. It was a fairly new establishment. It was established after the devastating catastrophe of Tsunami in 2004.  The people on the coastal region were badly affected by the catastrophe. The most unfortunate were the unattended persons with intellectual disabilities. Sisters of Charity came forward and establishments in Moratuwa to help these unfortunate persons with intellectual disabilities. Now the institute has grown a lot.

Exhibition organized by Sisters of Charity in Colombo

On our last day of the visit, we made a stop at an exhibition organized by the Sisters of Charity. All the organizations under Sisters of Charity attended the exhibition. Different forms of arts and crafts were on display for sale. We were amazed by the level of skill displayed by the persons with Intellectual Disabilities. As Christmas is just around the corner, there were decoratives for the occasion. We were pleased to exchange pleasantries with the members of the Sisters of Charity.

Andalib and Faisal with members of the Sisters of Charity in Colombo, Sri Lanka

On our trip to Sri Lanka, we visited the members of Sisters of Charity in Colombo, at one of their institutions. We had visited them on our previous visit to Sri Lanka also. We were pleased to visit the institute again. There is interest about Therap among the members of the Sisters of Charity.  We had a session with the members, explaining the initial details about the software. They were intrigued by the fact that services can be documented in Therap with such fine details. They were also pleased by the customization facilities provided by Therap. It is the start of a new journey. Hopefully institutes of the Sisters of Charity will be able to document the services provided by them, through using Therap.
