Therap and SWID Bangladesh jointly organized a workshop in Rangpur, Bangladesh on June 11, 2017 in RCCI auditorium, Rangpur. As Rangpur is one of the eight divisions of Bangladesh and the place of the workshop was centered in the middle of Rangpur city so attendance from special schools and organizations was higher. Around 200 people from SWID affiliated special schools and organizations attended the workshop. Most of the attendees were teachers, special educators and head teachers of the schools.
Prattay Iqbal, International Business Development Executive, Therap talked about Therap and introduced Therap to the attendees. The attendees then got to see some of Therap’s support materials such as user guides and training videos. Jowaherul Islam Mamun, President, SWID Bangladesh talked about SWID and then thanked Therap team for collaborating with SWID Bangladesh to organize the workshop. Shahadat Hossain, Psychologist, SWID Bangladesh talked about autism and gave suggestions and advised on how to take care of an intellectually disabled child to the teachers and special educators from special schools and organizations. Md. Asad Uzzaman Sazzad, Training and Implementation Specialist, later spoke to the attendees as they had a lot of questions. Attendees in the workshop showed a lot of interest in using Therap and Therap team is willing to organize training sessions with the users very soon.
After the workshop Therap and SWID Bangladesh team also visited some schools in the remote area of Rangpur. They are currently providing services to persons with disabilities. School authorities cordially welcomed the whole team and talked about their curriculum and services provided by them.

First Ever Therap Conference on “Improve Quality of Service for Persons with Disabilities Using Digital Documentation” in Bangladesh
Therap Asia successfully conducted their first National Conference in Bangladesh on April 20, 2017 at the RAOWA Convention Hall. With the motto of ‘Improve Quality of Service for Persons with Disabilities Using Digital Documentation’, the conference was attended by several disability organizations across the country, who have been working to better serve disabled individuals with the help of the online documentation software, Therap.
Maj. Gen. (Retd.) M. Shamim Chowdhury, Head of HR and Vital Assets of Therap (BD) Ltd., inaugurated the conference and expressed his gratitude to the attendees for their enormous dedication towards persons with disabilities (PWD). Richard Robbins, CEO of Therap Services, shared his vision for Asia and ensured continuous support for all qualified disability organizations across South-East Asian region.
On this occasion, Jeff Case, Director of Business Development of Therap along with Maureen Noonan, Director of Global Customer Support, Therap exchanged their views on this industry and how Therap can really enhance the quality of services for the disability organizations here in Bangladesh.
Later on, Mr. Jowaherul Islam Mamun, General Secretary of SWID Bangladesh and President of Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID) and Dr. Shamim Ferdous, Executive Director of Bangladesh Protibondhi Foundation spoke on the overall scenario of the disability community in Bangladesh and how they are planning to utilize Therap to provide top notch support for the individuals receiving services from their respective organizations.
Being the national leader in the disability field in USA since 2003, experts and professionals working with Persons with Disabilities shared their knowledge and experience of more than 25 years during the conference. Originally starting career as support staff, Therap personnel Calvin Christensen and Ebony Johnson attended the conference and interacted with the users from Bangladesh to discuss some issues faced in the US for the last 15 years and also, how Therap helped them to overcome those issues. More than 200 people joined the Therap Conference, comprising of teachers, parents and senior management from organizations.
Therap is committed to make an impact on the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) by working with disability organizations throughout the world and by providing them necessary tools such as Therap software, so that they can easily improve their quality of services with better documentation. Special School for Disabled and Rehabilitation Center (SSDRC) has been one of the leading organizations working with Autistic children in Nepal. Ms. Sabita Upreti, Founder/ Chief Executive Director of SSDRC recently visited Bangladesh. During her stay in Dhaka, the Therap Asia team met up with her. The Therap Asia team had a very fruitful discussion session with Ms. Sabita regarding her use of Therap software and also her visit to Bangladesh.
Therap introduced Ms. Sabita to Mr. Jowaherul Islam Mamun, President of Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID) and Secretary General of SWID Bangladesh. They had an informative conversation and talked about their respective experiences of working in the disability sector in Nepal and Bangladesh. Mr. Mamun invited Ms. Sabita to attend the 23rd Conference of AFID, which is going to take place on November 18-24, 2017 in Dhaka, Bangladesh and will be hosted by SWID Bangladesh. Before leaving Dhaka, Ms. Sabita presented a token of love from SSDRC to Therap and to Mr. Mamun each.

With the beginning of the new year 2017, a countdown clock has been placed on the homepage. The countdown clock will be counting down to the start of the event. The afid23 website also contains the announcements and notices regarding the conference. Hosted by SWID Bangladesh, the conference will take place from November 18 to 24, 2017 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka, Bangladesh.
SWID Bangladesh, with its partners and well-wishers, is arranging meetings at regular intervals. 2nd Organizing Committee Meeting of the 23rd AFID Conference is scheduled to be held on January 14, 2017 at the SWID Bangladesh compound. People working in the Disability industry from all over the country are expected to attend the meeting. Therap is delighted to be a part of this conference as well.

Therap conducted another training session at SWID, Bangladesh. SWID, Bangladesh is one of the leading service providers in the Intellectual Disabilities field in Bangladesh. SWID, Bangladesh has been very proactive during the training session. They are picking the lessons up in a fairly short amount of time. Society for the Welfare of Intellectually Disabled (SWID) Bangladesh, is one of the leading service providers in the field of Intellectual Disabilities in Bangladesh. Therap Services started implementation at one of the schools of SWID. We held another training session at SWID recently. The participants used android mobile phone and tablets to access Therap. They also provided data through their mobile devices. We are hopeful, we will see more users like them across Asia, where majority of internet users use internet, through their mobile devices.

Therap started implementation at the SWID Laboratory Model School which is situated at Eskaton of Dhaka, Bangladesh. SWID Laboratory Model School is the leading school for people with Intellectual Disabilities in Dhaka. The school is run by Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (SWID), Bangladesh. During the training session participants were introduced to Therap. We will visit them soon to follow up.
