Yesterday we picked up a car (my folks don’t have one) and headed down into the borders to a bothy called Hope.
It is an old shepherds cottage that the local farmer no longer needs but still owns. Its upkeep has been passed on to the Border Bothies Association. It is one of my favourite places and Iona had specifically requested that we go back.
I’ll post some pictures tomorrow sometime, but it was bliss to be completely alone (or as alone as you can be with 2 children and 2 parents) and reading Harry Potter by gas lamp!
Iona and Calum climbed the hill opposite and Calum and I built a very fine dam in the stream.
After getting some sleep (though not too much) we headed back today and now Iona and I are off to catch up with Calum and see the HP movie too!

One of you will have to see it a second time so I don’t have to go alone!!! Have fun!

Wow, beautiful sunshine at Hope!! The kids look like they are having a brilliant time! It’s amazing what you can do when you have no electricity surrounded by nature and beauty! I think we need to do that a little more often just as a reminder.
Miss you guys tons!!!!!!
