Wolcott Warriors U12 Boys, The New York Metropolitans, Heart of Midlothian Football Club – What do they all have in common? They all did their best to put my blood pressure through the roof this weekend.
Over the last few years, the boys that I coach for soccer have had problems scoring goals, but have basically never let the opposition score. This year we seem to be scoring a lot, but have also decided it would only be fair to let the other team score too! (hence a 4-4 draw last week) Actually, I am having a great time with them all, it’s basically the same group of kids for the fourth year in a row and it’s very cool to see how much of team they really are and I can’t imagine another group of twelve year olds who would be so much of a team and so well behaved.
Hearts have been awful the last month or so, including a 2-0 loss to Sparta Prague this week at “home” (that would be Murrayfield rather than Tynecastle). They did though manage to scrape a 1-0 win away against Motherwell today which hopefully is the start of better things to come.
Finally, the Mets seem to be stuck on a magic number of 1. Having said that, today would be a good day to clinch as it is the aniversary of the ’86 team clinching (they took their time too) and if it is not today, then they can clinch at home which would be fun too!
Meanwhile, I think I need to take up yoga!
