I’m spending a few days over here visiting my daughter Iona who has a summer job interning at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)..  Yesterday she was abe to give us a tour, it’s very exciting, especially if you have any interest at all in space and explortion (who doesn’t?).

Top of the list for me was seeing the spare Mars rover (an exact copy of Curiosity) that actually could has gone instead of the original.  They have a Mars playground […]

Monday in the Redwood Cathedral

Video on Brian McNeill — Muir and the Master Builder

After a traumatic weekend in Connecticut, I came out to California for some meetings.  I had a bit of time to spare before my flight home and managed to get to the John Muir Woods.  It’s truely awe inspiring and a great place to find some solace and grounding.  I must get back there more appropriately attired!

Enjoy the photos

Just keep heading east…

After a great week in California, I’m temporarily in New Jersey (enough time to watch a couple of games from Euro 2012) and then it is on to Newcastle, England where I will be attending the Designing Interactive Systems Conference.

Of course a rather fortunate side effect of this is that I will be able to stop in and see my familty in Edinburgh and actually bring my parents back with me in time for Calum’s high school graduation along with Siraya’s adoption and baptism.  It’s going to be quite a fortnight or so!

As always, probably the best way to get ahold of me is through email.

Monday in Palm Springs, California

Panoramic view of Palm Springs, California

I spent today doing training and brain storming with some folks here in the heat of Palm Springs, California.

Not only is it rather hot, it’s also really windy!  that might explain why there are quite so many wind turbines around here.

Also, why is it that Californians call their highways “the” and noone else does?

Tuesday in Sacramento, California

I am starting to think that Sacramento is half way between Connecticut and Hawaii, because it seems to be the place that I end up meeting Kevin!
Just a flying visit today, some great meetings and I’m already on my way to North Dakota!
Maybe next time I’ll get more of a chance to explore, hope so.

Wednesday in San Fransisco, California

Kevin and I had a tremendous day (and evening) in San Fransisco, very productive meetings and even time to see some sights.

It’s very hard to tell what direction you are going around here because the sea is everywhere, but some over the views are just incredible.
Check out a few of my photos.  Take special note of Kevin in his suit, you may never see it again!
