Today is election day in Scotland for both the Scottish Parliament and the local councils. For a political junky like me it’s fascinating stuff.

Firstly, voters will have to vote using two different methods of proportional representation, one for each election, both of which are different from the first-past-the-post system used for the UK Parliament!

Secondly there are some interesting possibilities both in Scotland and across the UK as this may actually be an election where the Labour Party does not win control of most things Scottish with things seeming to be swinging in favor of the Scottish National Party. There are even scenarios where the Green Party may hold some key swing positions in Hollyrood!
It’ll be fun watching the results coming in tonight.
