Devil’s Tower, Wyoming

We spent last night in Sundance, Wyoming which gave it’s name to The Sundance Kid (Butch Cassidy’s buddy). They have a great little (free!) museum in the basement of the Crook County Courthouse with all sort of local artifacts.

Devil’s Tower is wild, I couldn’t help but have thoughts of Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, but the beauty and majesty of the place soon took over.

I like that scientists still disagree about how it actually came to be and that there is more and more concern for the fact that it is held to be a very spiritual place by the local Native Americans. You can see why, it has a remarkable presence. It also smells really good! The local trees give of a great aroma!

Finally, down at the bottom of the tower is a field full of absolutely adorable Prairie Dogs!
