Coming Soon :: GER Resolution

Therap’s General Event Reports have always been a great tool for managing the incident reporting process.  The one piece of the whole incident management process that was missing was keeping track of the final outcome of the incident and investigation process.

In our next major release we will be addressing this with a feature called “GER Resolution”.  This is a form that is linked to the GER but controlled by separate permissions so that people who see the GER do not necessarily see the Resolution.

It is also available to work in both oversight and regular accounts.  Oversight accounts will be able to link to GERs from linked providers (who could also create their own).  Users at the linked provider level will […]

GERs in Montana

Montana's Official Website

Due to recent changes in Montana’s Incident Management policies, users in Montana no longer need to use the Montana State Form Popup (in fact, we have now removed it).

Make sure that you check the new guidance here to be sure that you are choosing the right categories.

All of the Incident Management reated policies and forms are available on the State of Montana Website.

Therap 2013.0 :: Introducing Multi Individual Events

MIE Dashboard

Ever since we produced our first Incident Report in Therap 1.0 about 10 years ago, we have been asked how we deal with an incident involving multiple individuals.  Up to now, we basically didn’t other than insisting (very strongly sometimes) that a single GER or incident report had to be about just one individual in order to preserve HIPAA compliance and data integrity.

Well, in Therap 2013.0 we are introducing the concept of Multi Individual Events!  The way I look at it, there are basically two scenarios.  The first is a bus crash and the second is an altercation.  In the first, the same thing happened to […]

Thinking about wording in GERs

As I am sure you all know, words are very important, especially in our corner of the world.

Last year, we even say the updating of ICD-9 to recognise more current thinking.

Now, we are looking at the wording with in the “Restraint Related to Behavior” and “Restraint Other”.  The word “restraint” is quite understandably a very emotive one, bringing with it reminders of a shameful past.  However, it is used in many states to refer to practices that are used appropritely and safely.

We would like to replace the word restraint and some of the related terms within those sections.  Obviously where we have state forms, those forms will continue to use the state wording.

I hope to present alternative language […]

Interfacing between Therap and IRMA in New York

Graphic showing Therap Modules and HIPAA Compliant

With 2012.0, Therap released it’s interface between General Event Reports and OPWDD’s IRMA (Incident Report Management Application)

You can read all about how it works here.

It should be noted that although the interface is live now, Therap needs to let the IRMA team know when each customer is ready to submit live data.  Until that is done, all data submitted to IRMA from Therap will be considered test data and deleted nightly.

Remember that to be ready to use the IRMA module, you need to add TABS Program IDs to each program and Individual TABS IDs to your IDF Extension.

If you have any questions or are ready to switch over […]

Using Excel with Therap :: Working with times

I have been working with Bill from Montana on how to easily run a report calculating which shifts certain injuries occurred on.

As you may know, I love an Excel challenge, and so, Bill and I have been exchanging emails back and forth as we got closer and closer to an elegant solution.

Key to this is getting Excel to recognise times as times.  By using a feature known as Text to Columns, that is now really easy.

The other trick here is using nested IF formulas which although it looks really smart and complicated is actally rather simple.  If you watch the video above (I would encourage you to double click and open it in YouTube so you can watch it in […]

New search enhancements in Therap 8.14.18

Screenshot of Account Settings

With our update today, we have added some enhancements to the searches for T-Logs and General Event Reports.

You can now decide which of your staff you want to be able to look at data which is more than 13 months old.  You can see the “Enable Search beyond 13 Months” option in the User Profile screenshot above.  This switch is defaulted to “No”, if you would like to give any particular staff the ability to search beyond 13 months, just change that flag to “Yes” in their profile.

We have also added a requirement that for searches beyond three months, an individual’s name is specified.

As we move on we hope to extend […]
