Using Therap’s Scanner interface with Chrome

Google released Chrome version 42 sometime last week. In this version they have disabled  a feature called NPAPI by default. And in version 45 which is due to be released in September they will drop NPAPI support entirely.
This means JAVA applets will not run from Chrome v42 and onward. Which means that our scanner interfaces will not work.  We will be upgrading more scanner locations in our upcoming release to the latest version which is not impacted and the rest will be done before September.
The solution for now is to manually enable NPAPI support in Chrome.
Steps (if you have Chrome v42.):
1. Go to chrome://flags/#enable-npapi
2. Click the Enable link under Enable NPAPI Mac, Windows.
3. For your change to take effect, click the Relaunch Now button […]

Have you checked your Provider Preferences recently?

I had the following conversation with Sazzad recently based around some work we are doing to enhance the ISP Plan and do automatic validation for New York billing.

Justin: It would be cool if providers could turn off the ISP Program links at the top of ISP Plans
Sazzad: Have you looked in Provider Preferences recently?
Justin: Oops!

Click on the picture below for a reminder of all of the settings you have at your disposal.

Working with Surveyors

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

I am often asked what is the best way to show Therap to surveyors.  The answer to this really depends on the surveyor and the provider to some extent.  My personal preference though is to make a specific user account for that surveyor giving them read only access to the specific individuals they are reviewing.  One of the things I like about this is that it logs each record that the surveyor looks at which I think respects the privacy of the individual who should be able to know who […]

Some down time this afternoon

We had some connection issues followed by a little down time early this afternoon.

We have now identified the issue and are working to avoid any repetition of it, sorry for any headaches this caused.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Still using Internet Explorer 6? Already using IE8?

One of the challenging things about developing a web-based application is the number of browsers that are out there.  Not only do we have to work with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera and more we have to try and work with all the various versions of each one.

This is particularly an issue with the newest and the oldest browsers.  For example, having made sure that we work with IE7, then Microsoft goes and brings out IE8 which is actually more standards compliant, but as such, breaks all the fixes people put in place to work with IE7.  If you are using IE8 (I do) you may find that you need to use “Compatibility View”.

It's good to be mobile

Justin in Arizona.

Early on Friday I did a presentation outside Philadelphia with Ken.  That went really well and I started home.  On the way back up the New Jersey Turnpike it seemed to work out that I was stopping at every other service station for either a phone call or a webinar.

It never ceases to impress me that by using my Verizon Wireless EVDO I can not only use Therap from just about anywhere, I can show other people how to use it via GoTo Meeting.  Being in the Walt Whitman Service Area just doesn’t make as good a photo op as the picture in my title bar!
