This really has been quite a week!
To start off with I did presentations on both coasts (Connecticut and California) as well as slap bang in the middle (North Dakota), but I also ended up spending the end of the week in Connecticut Children’s Medical Center with Siraya.
Thankfully Siraya is much better now and if we can get all the appropriate i’s dotted and t’s crossed she should be coming home on Monday (as I head off to Tennessee!).
Siraya really does have an incredible group of people around her (many of whom are quite happy to show up at any hour of the night or all night as required). On top of that we have met even more wonderful people here at CCMC (on top of the people we knew before – I am convinced that her two neurologists should form a comedy duo).  Apart from the fact that she wasn’t in such good shape when she came in, the only downside of the whole experience has been the difficulty in processing the required paperwork for things like consents and approvals.  There seemed to be faxes and phone calls going all over the state and missing each other.  If only there was a web app for that!…
For a little light relief at the end of all this, Calum and I went to see Social Distortion last night (funnily enough, the concert which we bought tickets for months ago was just a few blocks down from the hospital!).  They put on a great show (which I enjoyed greatly from the old folks section while Calum got all bouncy) leading me to join Iona in posting lines from songs (apart from the fact that this was one song they didn’t play!).

They ended the show with such a great rendition of their version of Ring of Fire that even the bouncers we dancing and clapping along!
