Today Calum and I drove down to Pearl Harbour. The most significant part of this was a visit to the USS Arizona Memorial which is run by the National Park Service with their usual combination of simplicity, style, and information.
It is a very solemn memorial and testimonial to the horrors and wastes of war and the incredible bravery of individuals.
We also toured the battleship USS Missouri and the submarine USS Bowfin (I was not built to be a submariner and can’t imagine spending so much time in such cramped quarters, let alone under the sea.
