President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities (PCPID) 2012 Report to the President

Now Available on ACL Website

This report was transmitted to the White House on Friday, May 10, 2013, and is now available on the ACL website. The report provides recommendations regarding Managed Long-Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The report specifically recommends that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) should only approve MLTSS proposals that include quality measures and reporting that ensure access to a competent, stable, and well-trained direct support professional workforce. The NADSP will be monitoring this closely and will be actively engaged in any state that is proposing a Managed Care Organization to provide Long Term Supports and Services to people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

The purpose of the report to the President is to provide background on MLTSS to assist the intellectual and developmental disability community with understanding the changes occurring and ways to influence better outcomes. The report also provides recommendations to the President and the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services for consideration and possible action.
