A Guide to Our Conferences

Descriptions of the Session Types: The Regional Conferences
These conferences typically run for two days and offer four sessions at a time, and about eight hours of sessions per day.
The Side-By-Side Conferences
These conferences are typically three days and hold five sessions at a time, for about eight hours per day, covering both Therap and College of Direct Support material. These conferences are not training intensive and will focus more on the basics, with a smattering of advanced sessions.
The National Provider Administrators’ Conference
This conference typically includes the entire Therap sales, training and implementation, and executive staff as well as a handful of software developers to discuss new features directly with conference participants.
How-To:
A How-To session is held in a lecture format where a Therap trainer–or an experienced trainer from a Therap user agency–will present the basics about how a given module works. This is a good session for new users, direct care staff, or curious users who have yet to work with that component of the system.
Advanced How-To:
An Advanced How-To session still leans towards a lecture format where a Therap trainer–or an experienced trainer from a Therap user agency–will cover more in-depth features of an area of the Therap system such as using Excel to review data, creative ways to use ISP Programs, or focusing on a specific feature such as reporting throughout the system or caseloads and super roles for provider administrators.
Discussion:
A Discussion is just that–a session moderated by a Therap staff member to gather input on a given topic. Plan on having some things to say if you attend a discussion!
Brainstorming Session:
A Brainstorming Session is typically a session held with our designers and software engineers to work out specific questions about how the application should best work to meet your needs. This is where Therap offers a place for users to work directly with developers in solving their problems, addressing their concerns and building a better system for the future.
State Focus Session:
A State Focus Session is a session geared toward users in the given state, and/or surrounding states or areas, of where the conference is being held. These sessions can include User Group Meetings (states with a high concentration of Therap Users typically have a group that includes members from all providers within the state to routinely meet via webinar to discuss and troubleshoot state-specific concerns when it comes to Therap) and discussions around reporting and licensing requirements for Therap to gather information regarding the needs of those users.
User Panel:
A User Panel includes several representatives from agencies in the given conference area to discuss their experience using Therap. A common example is a panel reviewing how they went about transitioning from a paper-based system to Therap. These panels are often useful for new and potential Therap users as they can directly ask the represented agencies about their experience.
User Presentation:
A User Presentation is a presentation designed and presented by a member of an agency that uses Therap. It can include a wide variety of topics whether it be data analysis, clever access structure, quality assurance, or techniques that they have developed to train their staff in using Therap. These sessions offer a vast array of material and there is no easy way to gauge who would be best attending these presentations as that is heavily dependent on the topic.
Vendor/Organization Presentation:
A Vendor/Organization Presentation is designed & presented by a company/agency invited by Therap. Some of these organizations have included: The College of Direct Support, CARF, Web-Footed Friends, The University of Minnesota, and Rest Assured. These vendors typically provide information or a product geared towards those working in the intellectual disabilities field.
While reviewing a conference schedule, please be reminded that you are never “trapped” in one track. You may attend any session in any category.

We appreciate post conference feedback. Once you have attended a conference, please let us know what aspects of the conference you liked and what you did not. Your feedback will help improve our upcoming conferences.
