Over half a million data record entries are being documented in Therap every month in California. Intellectual disabilities providers are tracking individual outcomes and progress on Individual Program Plans (IPP) and Individual Service Plans (ISP) goals. Therap is aligned with the goals of CMS and the policy changes happening across California.”

Press Release :: Therap Processing NJ Fee-for-Service Claims with Electronic Billing

Disability Documentation Software Generates Medicaid Fee for Service at NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities Providers

Therap Services, leader in electronic documentation software for Developmental Disability service providers, has implemented New Jersey’s Fee-for-Service at multiple agencies in the state. The Fee for Service (FFS) pilot is a Medicaid based service reimbursement system which is being adopted by the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities and will replace the current contract based system of reimbursement. FFS is a service model that reimburses providers for services rendered.

Therap’s Electronic Documentation System is processing claims for the New Jersey DHS, Division of Developmental Disabilities Fee-for-Service Implementation. Therap is also processing claims for Department of Child and Family Services (DCF) services.

Therap’s electronic documentation system has been implemented by providers serving I/DD and the broader LTSS community. Therap uses different options for processing claims based on the responsiveness of the various state systems. Therap uses national clearinghouses and has direct Trading Partner agreements.

Ken Slavin, Northeast Business Development Director, states, “Therap is processing claims in 25 states and the Billing Specialists thought they had seen every billing system possible. They were wrong. NJ offered some unique challenges and it took a few weeks to work out the kinks and modify Therap’s claiming capability to meet those challenges, but that goal was accomplished and Therap users are processing claims.”

Therap’s billing applications automatically exports claims in the ANSI X12 837 formats for processing. Once adjudicated X12 835s with remittance advices can be uploaded from the state portal or delivered to the provider by Therap. Providers in NJ have been uploading the adjudicated claims to for faster turnaround. Once the adjudicated claims are imported reconciliation reports can be run and denied or rejected claims can be corrected and resubmitted. For the Fee-for-Service pilot in NJ, Therap’s claim templates have facilitated batch processing of claims with multiple NPI (National Provider Indicator) numbers. A Prior Authorization copy feature was customized to facilitate processing of NJ’s weekly prior authorizations, Also a new custom report that captures service overlaps was developed.

Therap’s billing features integrate with the service outcome/goal tracking documentation features to provide excellent audit trails. Billing data can be generated using case notes, attendance data, manual entry, or service outcome/goal tracking documentation. During the implementation of the FFS pilot, billing data can be tracked with a number of reports and in all steps of the claiming process such as Billable, Submitted, Paid, Rejected, or Denied. Therap also provides codes that link service line items to an external accounting system and general ledger.
