Employment User Group: Project SEARCH

Employment user group on Project SEARCH is just 2 weeks away! This user group will give you an overview of Project SEARCH, and how they function in different agencies. The employment user group is scheduled on 29th of November, 2018 at 1 pm EST.

Register now to learn more about Project SEARCH and how you can complete documentation for this service in Therap.

Project SEARCH was developed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, a research environment that fosters visionary thinking and innovation. It all began in 1996 when Erin Riehle was Director of Cincinnati Children’s Emergency Department. Erin felt that, because the hospital served individuals with developmental disabilities, it made sense that they should commit to hiring people in this group. She wondered if it would be possible to train people with developmental disabilities to fill some of the high-turnover, entry-level positions in her department, which involved complex and systematic tasks such as stocking supply cabinets. As a starting point, Erin presented her ideas to Susie Rutkowski, then the special education director at Great Oaks Career Campuses. Erin and Susie formed a partnership that was instantaneous, and together they launched Project SEARCH. Since its inception, Project SEARCH has grown from a single program site at Cincinnati Children’s to a large and continuously expanding international network of sites. Project SEARCH’s primary objective is to secure competitive employment for people with disabilities.

The Employment History form provides a comprehensive summary of the services in one place. It details assessments and accomplishments the individual has made throughout their work experiences. The attachment feature allows for electronic storage of documents up to 3 MB per section, creating a complete record of the Employment History.

Therap’s Employment History module include-

  • Create a job bank for employers and record contact interactions
  • Maintain individual’s job history
  • Keep track of referrals, milestones, career development plan and more

Molly Michels from Project Search will give an overview of Project SEARCH and how you can get involved.

Katie Dumais from United Ability in Birmingham, AL will talk about Project Search at her agency.
