Billing Beginnings

Our agency is going ahead with Therap billing!! I am the administrator so I have had the pleasure of spending hours on the phone with Heather – who has been great. She has walked me through the process so I have been busy creating description codes, attendance types, and service authorizations for each one of our individuals for each program… My eyes are bleeding.
We originally thought we would bill thru ISP programs but back tracked and switched to attendance billing. I had to make quite a few isp program updates as we originally thought we would want to have the hospital and therapeutic leave days show on the checklist as billable so we created new scoring methods with that option but then found out we do not want them to counted as billable as that would reflect as a face to face in the attendance module. So, back I went and discontinued and copied all the affected programs to reflect our original scoring methods with the non billable option. Of course all the hab plans have to be updated too.. live and learn. We have one more scheduled conference call which will be our first practice billing then we should be ready to start our new NY daily billing process electronically. We will be attending the Buffalo conference next week and hopefully we will pick up other pointers so we are successful in our launch. Just a side bar- Was very excited today when I discovered you can select both an approved and discontinued hab plan when accessing hab doc records or checklists.!!

Residential Moves

Hello to all of you experts. This is my first Blog and may seem a bit dry but I want to pick your brains
I have learned by trial and error the process of moving individuals from one program/site within our agency to another. Our individuals are set up in programs by site name. So each program is a caseload assigned to staff who work in a department which usually has 3 sites in it. They get 2 profiles, one with the main site they work in and one with the other two sites. Today we are moving several individuals from one site to another – 4 different sites are involved-which may also be in a different department. A day prior- First I enrolled them in the program- and left them in the old- temporarily. Then I copied each ISP program and added it to the new site with a new create date- day of move, and title change (- just added a period or a dash). They can be approved if the create date is the day of move. I submitted them, waiting to approve until the day of the move so they would not show on individual home page. Then the day of move I waited until morning documentation was complete at old site and I d/c’ all programs at old site and approved all programs in new site. I now have to create all new habilitation plans in the new site as Hab plans can not be copied to new site. I leave the old Hab plan approved until the monthly note for the current month is done as we use the Hab checklist for our monthly note. Once that is done I will approve the new Hab plan and d/c the old one. The data for the new month will then appear on the hab checklist- which we use in NY,. At that point I discharge them from the old site. Does this sound right?.Did I forget anything?? If anyone has a better way please let me know. Thanks for your input.

National and Onwards…

Hello all. I am writing my first blog as I am a new Certified trainer and at the trainers’ session we were encouraged!. It took me a while to log in but I realized it was not my own incompetence. Thank goodness..My name is spelled wrong but I will just go with it..
My coworker and I had a good time at the conference. Would love to visit light and power when it is warm out but maybe better we did not as we may have ended up like some others and have our stay cut short!! Our wonderful cab driver filled us in on some excitement we missed.-luckily. We both presented at the conference and both sessions were well received- (so we like to think anyway)..Looking forward to next year in Atlanta- can’t be a snow storm 2 years in a row.! But us Buffalonians can take it ..
We felt very proud of what our agency has accomplished so far in Therap. We are using most of the modules and will be adding intake and elimination shortly and the IPOP’s. Also working on getting our Day Hab agencies linked so we can do COIS- scomms. We are utilizing almost all of the health care modules including CCHIT and CHAT . Love all the acronyms. Still not using the GER as we have to deal with IRMA but it sounds like others are using it so it something to consider. Until next time, Hola
(Leaving for vaca in PR so I am practicing the only spanish I know.!!)
