Link Associates: Unlocking New Efficiencies with Therap

Linda Dunshee

For over seventy years, Link Associates in Des Moines has been helping people with intellectual disabilities achieve their goals through a variety of services, including supported employment, residential services, case management, therapeutic recreation, and more. Link recently switched to Therap’s documentation system, hoping to gain more consistent data, a better process for billing reconciliation, and reliable customer service and support. Though newly implemented, Therap has already empowered Link to streamline operations and continue pursuing their mission with newfound efficiency.

Since implementing Therap, Link has experienced significant improvements in its billing process. Claim submission, once a lengthy task, has become remarkably swift. "Our directors are able to review the data, attach it to a template, and send it directly to us. It's a click of a button, it shows it's queued, and then within a half an hour we usually see it change to sent. With the old system it would take overnight," states Amanda Cross, Link’s Finance Director. Therap has also notably streamlined billing reconciliation. “It allows us to pinpoint the reasons for a denial of a claim a lot quicker,” Cross says.

With Therap, we're able to find [the issue] within the first five days and get a correction submitted. That way, we get funds for what we need.

Financial analysis and reporting have also become more efficient for Link, especially with the use of Therap’s Business Intelligence tools. In the past, Cross had to create financial reports manually every month. “It was taking almost four hours between all departments. I just did it [with Therap] this past weekend and it took me 25 minutes,” says Cross. Linda Dunshee, Executive Director of Link, echoes Cross’ excitement. “Our financial reporting has gotten much more clean, specific, and easier to track. For auditing and compliance, that will be very big,” Dunshee affirms.

Although Link is still in the process of implementing Therap, Dunshee notes a promising sign that Therap was the right choice for Link – staff are easily adapting to the new system. “Two thirds of our staff speak English as a second language and when you can have that percentage of people integrate to a new system pretty seamlessly, that's impressive,” Dunshee states. Staff have quickly embraced and learned how to use Therap, resulting in little to no interruption to their daily tasks.

Beyond Therap’s features and ease of use, Link has particularly valued the consistent support received during their Therap implementation. Dunshee shares, “We had fantastic support through this whole process.” Cross agrees, stating, “We feel like we've got the added support that we've been missing.” Therap’s ongoing support will help Link as they continue to leverage more of the system. “I'm really excited for our team to learn the tools that will help staff be more efficient. Our goal is to make sure that we are supporting the people served,” says Dunshee.

With Therap, Link will be able to continue streamlining their documentation and operational processes, ensuring greater time and resources are available to help the people they support achieve their goals.

I've literally not had one complaint from a direct care staff about Therap... In all the trainings we did, people seemed to really pick it up and it seemed very natural and logical.
