Therap Services’ Impact on Tri‑Valley Developmental Services

For over 50 years, Tri‑Valley Developmental Services in Chanute, KS has been supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. What started in Piqua, KS as a small group of parents seeking services for their children has grown into an agency serving eight counties. Providing a comprehensive range of supports, including day and residential services, employment supports, and case management, Tri‑Valley faced the challenge of managing a variety of information across a geographically dispersed service area. Around ten years ago, they recognized the need for a centralized, accessible system to streamline data collection and communication. Their solution: Therap Services.

“With being so spread out across multiple counties, having [information] in one place and having it online so you can access it anywhere is a big benefit,” says Tammy Fiscus, Tri‑Valley’s Information Technology Coordinator. Before using Therap, Tri‑Valley relied on Word and Excel for documentation, which didn’t satisfy their need for a unified and secure documentation process. With Therap, staff can access real‑time information from anywhere with an internet connection.

Fiscus also credits Therap for improved communication between Tri‑Valley locations and staff. "It has given [staff] better opportunities to collaborate together, talk to each other, and share our ideas,” Fiscus states. This improved communication has fostered a sense of community and facilitated quality control when rolling out new initiatives across the organization.

As regulatory requirements continue to evolve, having a reliable documentation system is essential for maintaining compliance. Therap has provided Tri‑Valley staff with the tools they need to stay organized and easily access necessary information. "With the final rule and all of those [regulations] that [staff] have to keep up with, it gives them a better opportunity to find documentation and information that they need to help them with the reporting process…It helps keep us in compliance," Fiscus explains.

Since implementing Therap, Tri‑Valley has been able to manage documentation with more efficiency and ease. “It’s probably one of the best decisions that we’ve ever made,” says Fiscus. “We do a lot in Therap, so it’s worth every penny to be able to get it all in one place.” By providing a centralized location for documentation and communication, Therap has helped Tri‑Valley streamline processes, maintain compliance, and keep staff connected.
